Establishing Permanent Sales Relationship Between Affiliates and Customers
In Affiliate Marketing, you can choose to make the sales relationship between affiliates and customers permanent. Once a customer is connected to an affiliate, placing an order will bring a commission to the affiliate. At the same time, you can specify special commission rules based on the time when the customer-affiliate relationship is established.
Establishing Permanent Sales Relationship
In Affiliate Marketing, follow the instructions in this article to choose the sales relationship for your affiliates and customers. To establish a permanent customer-affiliate relationship, select Bind after account registration.
After setting this, when a customer clicks on the affiliate's link and registers or places an order to create a new account, the customer-affiliate relationship is established permanently. All subsequent orders from this customer will be attributed to the affiliate and eligible for commission calculation, regardless of whether they clicked on the affiliate's referral link or not.
This established customer-affiliate relationship is only valid for newly created customer accounts. If a customer has already registered or placed an order in the store before clicking the affiliate's referral link, the customer-affiliate relationship won't be established for the affiliate.
The customer-affiliate relationship is permanent and can’t be changed or canceled, even when you switch to another method of establishing sales relationships.
You can also view the customers who have been connected to this affiliate and their connection dates on each affiliate's details page.
Specifying Commission RulesBased on Connection Time
You can choose to reward affiliates who have established a longer sales relationship with their connected customers. Follow the steps below.
- In Affiliate Marketing, go to Coupons & Reward > Basic commission and create or click into a commission group.
- On the details page, scroll down to the Set commissions based on sales relation binding time section and turn on the toggle. The toggle is only available once you selectset Bind after account registration as your customer-affiliate relationship.

Set up your tiered commision rules. Click the + Add tier button to add more tiers. You can increase the commission rate with the years that affiliates have established a sales relationship with their connected customers for. The longer their sales relationship is, the more commission they could earn. By default, affiliates start to earn commissions at the basic rate once a customer-affiliate relationship is established.
- For example: When the connection time of a customer-affiliate relationship reaches two years, the affiliate can earn a commission rate of 10%.
- If Customer A's relationship with Affiliate 1 was connected on September 1, 2022, starting from September 1, 2024, every order placed by Customer A in the store can bring a 10% commission to Affiliate 1.
- Click Update.
