How to Set Up Add-on Product Activities

 

You can set up add-on product activities to complement multiple product sales, enhancing customer experience and boosting your store's sales. These add-on products can be showcased on either the product details page or the cart page, giving customers the option to include them with their main purchase.

Tips for Creating Add-on Product Activities

Before creating add-on products, please consider the following:

  • Quantity of Add-On Products: You can select up to 10 add-on items for each main product on the product detail pages. In the shopping cart, a maximum of 10 add-on items can be selected.
  • Main Add-On Product: In add-on activities, you can designate both a manually selected add-on item and an AI-recommended add-on item for the same main product.
  • Add-on Product Pricing: When you choose an add-on product, its price is set as the selling price by default. You can manually adjust the price, but it should not exceed the selling price of the product. If the product has multiple variants, the price of the add-on product should not exceed the lowest selling price.
  • Limit on the Purchase Quantity of Add-on Products: You can set a limit on the number of add-on products that can be purchased with each main product (variant). If no limit is set, customers can add any quantity of add-on products when purchasing the main product.
  • Add-on Product Activities: Add-on products featured in an activity are only available for purchase within that activity. Customers can purchase these add-on products at the specified add-on price set by you. However, add-on products cannot be combined with any other promotional offers and can only be purchased at the set add-on price.
  • Pricing for Setting Up Shopping Cart Add-on Products: The Shopping cart add-on products feature is available for a fee of USD 9.99 per month. After payment, you can set up and activate corresponding add-on product activities during the valid period. Once expired, the corresponding promotions will become invalid.
  • Impact of Add-On Product Changes: If the add-on products you have set are deleted, deactivated, or out of stock, the corresponding add-on product variants won’t be displayed in your store, and customers won’t see these add-on products.

 


 

Create Add-on Product Activities for Product Pages

  1. From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Apps > Product Upsells & Bundles.

  2. In the app, click Add-on products > Create an add-on product. Then, click the Create button.

  3. Set up your add-on product activity:

    • In the Activity title section, enter the name of the add-on product activity.
      Note: The activity name will be visible on your store's product details, cart, and checkout pages. Please fill it in carefully.


    • Choose the main product for this add-on product activity in the Main product section. Each add-on product activity can only have one main product.
      Note: The main product for an activity can be changed, but each product can only be included in one active add-on product activity at a time.


    • In the Add-on products section, configure the following settings:
      • Select add-on products: Choose between using AI recommendations or manually selecting recommended products. You can select up to 10 products. 
      • Set the price for add-on products: Specify the prices for the selected add-on products. Customers can choose to add them on the product page based on the prices you set. 
        Notes:
        • When manually adjusting prices, ensure they are greater than 0 and lower than the selling prices of the products.
        • If you have multiple variants for your add-on product, click the pencil icon to access the Multi-attribute settings page and set prices for each variant.
    • In the Add-on items settings section, select the Display mode for the activity and provide the display title. 

    • (Optional) In the Restrictions section, set a maximum quantity for purchasing add-on products. If no maximum quantity is set, customers can add any quantity when purchasing the main product.

    • In the Bundle display section, click Edit to set the position of add-on products on the product details page. Choose between Display above the ADD TO CART, Display below the ADD TO CART, and Horizontal sliding display.

4. After creating an activity, it will be enabled by default and displayed on the main product's details page.

Customers can click on the image of the add-on product to view its information in a pop-up window, including the product image, SKU, and price.

Manage Your Add-on Product Activities 

After creating your add-on product activities, you can manage and access the editing page of any specific add-on product activity through the list of add-on product activities.

  1. From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Apps > Product Upsells & Bundles.

  2. On the Product Upsells & Bundles homepage, click Add-on products > Manage add-on products to view all the add-on product activities you have created.

    • Activity title: View the names of the created add-on activities.
    • Add-on products: See the image and quantity of the add-on product for each activity.
    • Total sales ($):  Check the current total sales for each add-on product activity. This includes sales from orders containing any add-on product. 
    • Status:  View the status of each activity.
      • Enabled: The add-on product activity is active, and customers can see it on the product details page of the corresponding main product.
      • Disabled: The add-on product activity is inactive, and customers will not see it in the store.
    • Action: Click the Preview eye icon to preview the add-on product activity on the product details page of the corresponding main product.

  3. Bulk operations: You can bulk disable or delete add-on product activities. Select the activities you want to operate on, then click Disable or Delete and confirm in the pop-up window. The selected activities will be disabled or removed in bulk.

 


 

Edit Add-on Product Activities for Product Pages

You can edit the details of your add-on product activity from the settings page, including the activity title, main product, add-on product(s), add-on product price(s), and purchase limit.

  1. From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Apps > Product Upsells & Bundles.

  2. In the app, click Add-on products > Manage add-on products.

  3. Search or select the activity you want to edit, then click on it to access the editing page.

  4. Make your modifications and click Update. Your store will display the latest activity information.
    Notes: 
    • Updates to activities won't affect previously placed orders.
    • Prices of add-on products already in the shopping cart won't change due to edits made here. These products will be charged at their original price unless removed from the activity.
  1. You can also disable any add-on product activity as needed. Simply toggle off the Enabled switch on the specific activity settings page. Once disabled, the activity will no longer appear in your store, and its status will change to Disabled.

 


 

Create Add-on Product Activities for Shopping Carts  

 

Here's how to set up add-on product activities specifically for shopping carts:

  1. From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Apps > Product Upsells & Bundles.

  2. In the app, go to Add-on products > Shopping cart add-on products and click Set an add-on product.

  3. Configure the following settings:

    • In the Activity title section, enter the name of the add-on product activity.
    • In the Trigger section, choose the main product for this add-on product activity. You can select from all products in your store, specific product categories, or specific products.
    • In the Recommendation methods section, choose between:
      • AI recommendations: SHOPLINE’s AI algorithms automatically calculate and recommend up to 10 add-on products.
      • Recommend specific products: Choose from your store’s product pool. Each activity allows a maximum selection of 10 add-on products.
    • In the Add-on products configuration section, choose the Display method of the add-on activity and select from the following discount options:
      • No discount: Each add-on product is displayed at its original price.
      • Percentage discount: Apply a specified percentage discount to each add-on product, up to a maximum discount of USD 0.
      • Fixed amount discount: Apply a specified amount reduction to each add-on product, up to a maximum discount of USD 0.
    • In the Color settings section, customize the background color, text color, and border color for the title.
  1. Once you've created an activity, enable the switch to display it on the main product's shopping cart page.

Note: For a seamless shopping cart experience, the colors of product names, prices, and other elements in add-on products will automatically match your store's theme.
