Creating Customer Segments
The definition of the default segments may be different from yours. You can edit the default segments or create and customize new ones based on your store's conditions.
To create a segment, you need to first filter out the customers you need. There are five ways to filter customers quickly:
On the Customers page
- Go to Customers, and use the filter icon to specify more specific conditions, or use existing segment templates or Advanced filter mode (see below).
- Go to Customers and select filters from Recommended filters shown below the filters row to quickly apply recommended filter conditions.
In the Customers > Segments tab
- Go to Customers > Segments, click Create segment, and filter customers by adding filters or using existing segment templates or Advanced filter mode (see below).
- Go to Customers > Segments to directly apply the provided segmentation templates.
Advanced Filter Mode
If you are using the Advanced filter mode to filter customers, there are additional filter conditions available to you to create a more refined segment.
- In the Advanced filter mode page, select your filter conditions from the Condition list in the left pane and drag them to a Details box in the right pane. A box is a condition group and can accommodate more than one filter. If you need to combine multiple filters to achieve a more refined result, put the filters in the same box. If you need additional condition groups, click on Add a condition group. The system links the filters and groups with operators (and, or) to define the relationship between each other. Click the operators if you need to change the relationships.
- To exclude certain customers, drag and drop the filters into the box that has the not operator in front of it.
- Enter the segment name in the text box in the upper left corner and click Create.
Utilizing Tags
You can also add tags to individual customers or add tags in bulk to multiple customers. Then filter customers by tags to achieve segmentation. Refer to Managing Customers for more details.
After completing customer filtering, you can save the result as a segment.
- After filtering, click the Create segment or Add a segment button.
- Enter the Segment name and click Add.
- To adjust the filtering conditions, go back to the segment and change the filters.
Editing Customer Segments
In Customers > Segments, you can view all your current segments.
You can click on or switch to a segment to display the customers within it. Click the Other actions button in the upper right corner to rename, export, or delete the segment.
