Inviting Unregistered Customers to Activate Their Accounts

 

Once you've imported new customers from another platform or added them manually, it's crucial to encourage them to activate their accounts and explore your store.

SHOPLINE offers several convenient methods for activating customer accounts. This guide outlines these methods: sending individual invitations, batch invitations, and enabling account activation via login.

Inviting Individual Customers

To invite a specific customer to activate their account, follow these steps: 

  1. In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Customers. Locate the desired customer and click to access their details page.

  2. Click Send invitation in the upper right corner.

    Note: On the customer details page, the Send Invitation button will only appear if the customer hasn't registered. It will not be visible for registered customers.


  3. A pop-up window will display the recipient's information and email content.

    • Recipient information:
      • If the customer has an existing email address on file, it will be pre-filled and cannot be changed.
      • If the customer doesn't have an email address, this field will be blank and you can manually enter it. Sending the invitation will automatically add this email to their profile.
    • Email preview: Review the email content in the pop-up window. To edit the email content, adjust the layout, or add a discount, click Customer activation email template.
  1. After making any necessary changes, click Send.

 


 

Sending Batch Invitations

To send invitations to a specific segment of unregistered customers, follow these steps:

  1. In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Customers > Segments and select the desired customer segment.

  2. To send invitations to all customers in the segment, click Use segment. For specific customers, select them before clicking Use segment.

  3. In the pop-up window, locate the Send registration invitation to customer option and click Send now.

  4. Select the recipient target and preview the email in the pop-up window. To modify the email, click Customer activation email template.

  5. After making any necessary changes, click Send.
Note: If your SHOPLINE store is in a trial period, you can send a maximum of 1,000 customer invitation emails in a batch. If you exceed this limit, you will see a message indicating that the sending has failed.

 


 

Enabling Account Activation via Login

SHOPLINE allows you to enable account activation via authentication for unregistered customers. This means that customers can verify their identity and activate their accounts directly when they log in, without needing to receive an activation email. To enable this feature, follow these steps:

  1. In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Settings > Customer account.

  2. In the Classic customer account section, click Edit next to Registration/login settings.

  3. In the Sign up/sign in method module, confirm your allowed registration and login options. These options will determine the account types that can be activated via verification.

  4. In the Activation method module, check Customers to be invited can activate accounts in login pages (without activation email or discounts).

After enabling this feature, unregistered customers will receive a verification code via email or SMS when they log in. Once the customer has verified their identity, their account will be activated.

Notes:
  • If you allow phone number verification, ensure you have sufficient SMS credits.
  • With this feature enabled, customers can also activate their accounts by verifying their identity on the Forgot Password page.
