If your products come in more than one option, such as size or colour, each combination of option values for a product can be a variant for that product.
For example, if a t-shirt comes in two sizes (small and medium) and two colours (blue and orange), it has four variants:
Variations can be created for products with two or more options with different values (example above). Variations can also be created for products with only one option with several values (e.g., sizes S, M, and L). There is no limit to how many variations you can create.
Product variations can help you:
- Assign different images for different sets of options that your product has.
- Pricing automatically adjusts based on customer selection.
- You will be able to get more precise shipping quotes at checkout if you provide the product's weight, length, width, and height.

Adding product variations
You can add variants to a product with more than one option, such as size or colour. Each combination of option values for a product can be a variant of that product.
When you add a product variant, you can adjust the product's Pricing, Inventory, and Shipping settings from the product detail page. However, you will have to add the variant to the product; before you do so, you will need to create each variant from the variants section.
You can create up to five product attributes.
To create a product variation:
From your SHOPLINE admin, go to Products, add a new product or choose an existing product that comes with different options (colours, sizes, materials, Shapes, Style).
In the variants section, select enable variants to create variations further.
Check box this product has multiple variants.
If your product has more than one value (e.g. size S and size M), you can create a variation. This way, every option value will become a separate variation with its own image, weight, SKU, etc.
- Edit variation name.
- (Optional) Set the SKU, Price, Inventory, Weight, Barcode, and Metafields.
- (Optional) Set “compare price”, and “cost price” for the variation.
- (Optional) You can select “continue selling when out of stock”, and then you can continue selling products when your inventory reaches zero.
Click on save Save.
Editing product variations
You can edit and remove variants for a product on the product page. This gives you the flexibility to change the variants that you sell for a product at any time.
To edit product variations:
From your SHOPLINE admin, go to Product.
Select the product that has the variant that you wish to edit.
In the Variants section of the product details page, edit/change the variation value.
|You can use the bulk product editor to help you update product variations in your store.|
Can I delete a specific variation value?
Yes. You can delete a specific variation value (Yellow, Small) or delete the whole variation (Yellow).
Can I have different stock for each product size?
Yes. In the Variants section of the product page or under Inventory management, you can edit the inventory of individual product sizes.
For example, you sell shoes and offer them in certain colours (Black, Red) and sizes (5, 5.5, 6, 6.5 7, or Large, Small, Medium, etc). You want to track the inventory level of every product variation (e.g., Red 7) to know when it’s time to replenish its stock and make this variation unavailable for online purchase when its stock reaches zero. First, add options Colours and Size to that product and create Colour + Size variations out of these options’ values, then assign a unique SKU and specify the stock quantity and out-of-stock behaviour ("Show on storefront") for every product variation.
Can I create variations in the Livestream room?
Yes, after clicking “Create a product” in the Livestream room, you can proceed to click “Add variant”, and set up the variants according to the steps outlined above as well. Do take note that each variant must have a unique keyword for Livestreams.
Is there a maximum number of variations that I can create?
Yes, the maximum number of variations that can be added to a product is 500.
