Bulk Editing Products and Variants

SHOPLINE offers features that enable you to update your store's products and variants in bulk. These tools streamline product management and enhance work efficiency. This guide introduces various methods for bulk editing your products, helping you save time and boost overall productivity.

Editing Your Products in Bulk

To bulk edit your products, go to Products in your SHOPLINE admin panel and select the products you want to update. You can choose up to 600 products at a time if you select them individually. Alternatively, select all to update all products at once. Then, use the following features to bulk edit your products. 

Activate, Deactivate, and Archive

Click the Activate, Deactivate, or Archive products buttons to perform the corresponding actions.

More Actions

Click More actions to select the desired options from the dropdown menu. Supported options include:

• Edit name: Add text at the beginning or end of a product name or replace specific text within the product name.
• Edit vendor: Change the brand name or vendor name. If this field was previously filled for the product, it will be replaced.
• Add tags: Add existing tags to products or create new tags. Click Clear store tags to remove uncommon tags from your entire store.
• Remove tag(s): Remove existing tags from products.
• Add sales channels/Remove sales channels: Adjust the available channels for the products. 
• Edit price/Edit the compare at price: Select either Change to a specified price or Adjustment based on price.
• Edit product weight: Choose either Change to a specified weight or Adjust according to the original weight.
• Edit product type: Select a product type or add a custom product type.

• Edit Tax: Select Tax required or Cancel charging tax to update the tax status of the selected products.

  Notes: This overwrites the existing tax setting on all selected products, even if they currently have different tax settings from one another. If a selected product has multiple variants, the change applies to all of its variants.

• Make visible/Hide: Set the Visibility of the selected products to Visible or Hidden.

  Note: Make visible and Hide actions do not take effect for deactivated or archived products.

• Delete products: Delete all selected products at once.

Enter bulk editor 

Click Enter bulk editor to edit the following product information: Title, SKU code, Price, Compare at Price, Tax, Requires Shipping, Package, Tag, Product type, Custom product type, Vendor, Collection, Barcode, Weight, Product cost, Status, Visibility, HS code, and Country/region of origin.

Tips for using Enter bulk editor: 

• Easily edit information in selected cells.

  

• Copy cell content downward by clicking and dragging the fill handle in the lower-right corner.

  

• Select multiple products and click More actions to perform bulk actions, including:

  • Editing prices, compare-at prices, and product weights
  • Adding or removing tags
  • Binding or unbinding collections
  • Modifying vendors, product types, and tax settings
  • Changing product statuses, such as activating, deactivating, or archiving products

  • Set or clear product metafield values in bulk

    Note: Currently, bulk operations are supported for the following metafield types: rich text, single-line text (single value or list), document, JSON, and URL.

  

• Click Edit columns in the top-right to choose which fields to display.

  Notes: You can drag the six-dot drag handle to the left of a field in the menu to adjust the field's display order. When adding product metafields as display columns, you can currently select up to 30 metafields.

  

   

Bulk Editing Products with Variants

For products with multiple variants, you can bulk edit these variants through the following steps:

1. In your admin panel, go to Products and select the product with variants you want to edit.

   

2. Locate the SKU list section, select the variants to edit, and perform bulk actions using the following features:

   

• Edit inventory: Click to adjust the inventory for the selected variants.
• Edit price: Click and select  Change the price, Change the compare at price, Change the cost price, or Clear the compare at price.
• More actions: Click to access the following options:
  • Set image: Change or delete images.
  • Inventory tracking: Enable or disable inventory tracking.
  • Shipping information: Edit or remove packages, edit product weight, HS code, or country/region of origin.
  • Tax: Specify whether tax is charged.
  • Continue selling when out of stock: Specify whether the product can continue to be sold after it is out of stock.
  • Edit SKU code: Edit the SKU code for the selected variants.

• Bulk edit Click to access the editor. In the editor, click Edit columns to select attributes and locations for adjustments. Editable attributes include Price, Compare at price, Package, Requires shipping, Inventory tracking, Continue selling when out of stock, Weight, Product cost, HS code, Location inventory, and Variant metafields. 

  Notes: In the menu, you can drag the six-dot drag handle to the left of a field to adjust its display order. After adding a field, you can edit metafield values directly in the cells of the corresponding display column. You can also click a cell and drag the fill handle in the lower-right corner to quickly copy the same value to consecutive cells below. You can select up to 100 locations at a time. If more than 100 locations are selected for the Location inventory column, only the first 100 locations are displayed. When adding product metafields as display columns, you can currently select up to 30 metafields.

• Delete: Click to bulk delete all selected variants.

3. Click Update to save the changes.

Bulk Editing Products via Product Import

Another option for bulk editing products is through product import via CSV. Follow these steps:

1. In your admin panel, go to Products. If you want to export only specific products, select or apply filters first. Then, click Export.

   

2. Select whether to export All products, Selected products, or All results from filter, enter your email for file delivery, and click Export.

   

3. Open the file and edit the following items as needed:
   • Product title (change the product name in either Chinese or English)
   • Product description, brand name, and image
   • SEO title and SEO description
   • Product status (Activated/Deactivated)
   • Product visibility (Visible/Hidden)
   • Product variants, variant name, and attribute value
   • SKU ID, SKU selling price/original price, inventory, weight, product number, and barcode
   • Track inventory (T/F)

4. After completing the information, click Import > Import locally on the Products section.

   

5. In the pop-up, upload the file, select Overwrite existing products, filling in missing fields from the file where relevant, and click Import.
