What is PayPal?
PayPal allows customers to pay for purchases in stores with various payment methods such as credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers. You will need to go to PayPal to apply for an account first and set your PayPal account as a payment method in your SHOPLINE store. After the payment is set up successfully, merchants can use PayPal to receive payments.

Step 1: Setup your PayPal Account

To create your PayPal account, you will need to first sign up for an account.
- Once you have set up a PayPal account, go to SHOPLINE admin to bind your PayPal account to your SHOPLINE store.

Step 2: Refunding an order
Please be aware that a 4.0% fee will be applied to any refunds. This fee will not be returned to you and will be taken out of the refund amount. After a refund is processed, you will need to manually update the payment status of the order.
When you select to Refund to the original payment, please note that you will have to absorb the transaction fee based on your subscription plan.
You can issue a full or partial refund within 180 days of the original payment date. You will not be able to cancel the refund request once you have raised it. |

To refund a payment, go to Activity > select the payment you wish to refund and click Issue a refund. You may then enter the amount you wish to refund and click on Continue. After which, review the following information and proceed by clicking Issue Refund.

Where can the PayPal quick payment button be placed?
SHOPLINE allows you to set PayPal quick payment in multiple locations, which mainly include a product details page, large shopping cart, small shopping cart, and checkout page. In addition, as the checkout steps are set up differently in the backend, the checkout page will display it in two different ways.
- Standard style - three-page checkout
- Single page style - single page checkout
What currencies does PayPal support?
PayPal supports multiple regions and currencies, covering most transactions around the world; please note that some currencies are conditional account currencies, meaning they are only available to PayPal accounts in certain areas, and here is the link to view currencies supported by PayPal: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/reference/currency-codes/.
I have a PayPal personal and enterprise account, which one should I register?
Both PayPal personal accounts and enterprise accounts support payment binding. For reasons such as risk control, the binding rules of PayPal may be different for different account types. Learn more on the difference between Personal and Business accounts.
