Installing the App

To install the SKU Generator app, follow these steps:

1. From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Apps > Go to App Store.  
2. Search for the SKU Generator app and click Install.
   
3. Authorize the app to complete the installation. 
4. Optionally, pin the app to the Apps section in your admin panel for easy access.

Setting Up SKU Keywords 

Follow these steps to define your SKU keywords: 

1. In the app, locate the Setting your SKU keywords section. 
2. Click the pencil icon to set rules for each keyword. Supported keyword types include:
   

• • Product name: Choose to configure the first {x} characters of the product name or the first {x} characters of the first {x} words.
  • Product serial number: Differentiate products using incremental numbers (e.g., 001, 002, 003).
  • Variant name: Configure the first {x} characters of the variant name.
  • Variant serial number: Differentiate variants using incremental numbers (e.g., 001, 002, 003).
  • Custom texts: Create custom rules using personalized text.
    
    

3. Click Add keywords to include additional rules. To remove unnecessary keywords, click the trash bin icon.
   
4. Adjust the order of keywords by dragging and dropping the six-dot icon if needed.
   
5. Preview the SKU generation result in the Preview section.
   
6. Click Update to save your settings, and then enable the app.

Configuring Application Ranges

In addition to setting up generation keywords and rules, you also need to configure the application range:  

1. In the app, go to the Where this applies section. 
2. Select the applied Product range:
   

• • Newly-added products and variants only: Apply SKU rules only to new products or variants added after enabling the app, leaving existing SKUs unchanged.
  • All products and variants: Apply rules to all products and variants, overwriting existing SKUs.
  • Specific products or variants: Apply rules only to selected products and variants.
  • Specific collections: Apply rules only to selected product collections.
    
    

3. Select the applied SKU range:
   

• • All SKU numbers: Apply to all variants within the selected Product range.
  • Blank SKU numbers: Apply to variants within the selected Product range that do not have existing SKUs.
    
    

4. Click Update to save your settings, and then enable the app.
