Guide to Order Fulfillment and Shipping
Once customers place an order, you'll need to prepare and ship products to complete the fulfillment process. This article provides detailed guidance on fulfilling orders using two methods: Mark as Shipped and Shipping by Carrier.
- Mark as Shipped: Manually input tracking numbers and logistics provider information directly. This method supports bulk editing for efficient processing.
- Shipping by Carrier: Integrate with logistics provider apps to process shipments through the provider's system. This method offers seamless integration and tracking.
Manually Updating Shipping Status
After shipping the products, you can manually mark the orders as shipped and provide detailed shipping information. You can even split orders into multiple shipments for greater control over delivery, customizing each shipment with specific tracking information and customer notifications. To mark products as shipped:
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Orders and click on the order that you want to manage the shipment.
- In the Not shipped section of the order details page, click the Mark as shipped button.
- The Ship manually page opens. Enter the quantities to specify which products are shipped.
- (Optional) In the Logistics details section, provide shipping information.
- (Optional) In the Summary section, you can select the Send notifications to customer button to send them notifications.
- Once finished, click the Mark as shipped button.
Updating Tracking Information
If you did not provide or need to update the shipment information, you can add the latest information at any time.
Once the shipment information is complete (shipment number, logistics service provider, tracking number, etc.), you can track the latest shipping status. Some logistics carriers may not support real-time tracking in the admin panel and require visiting the carrier’s official website.
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Orders.
- Click on the order that you want to update shipment information.
- In the Shipped section of the order details page, click the Add tracking information button.
- In the pop-up window, provide the tracking number and logistics service provider.
Updating Shipping Information in Bulk
If you have processed the product shipment for multiple orders, you can mark these orders as shipped and update shipment information in bulk.
Bulk Fulfilling Orders
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Orders and click the Bulk Shipping button in the upper right corner.
- Download the template for bulk fulfillment.
- Fill in shipment details, including order number, order ID, and shipment information (logistics company name, tracking number, logistics tracking URL, notes, etc.). You can export the orders first to filter the content you need, making your operations easier.
- Upload the template.
Bulk Updating Tracking Numbers
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Orders and click the Update tracking numbers button in the upper right corner.
- Download the template for fulfilled orders.
- Update shipment details: logistics company name, tracking number, logistics tracking URL, and notes.
- Upload the template.
Canceling Shipment
You can cancel shipments for packages that have already been shipped. After successful cancellation, the shipment section will be removed and the products in the package will be reversed to the Not shipped status. Products that have been refunded or returned under the shipped status will not be affected by shipment cancellation. These products will remain in the refunded or returned status.
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Orders and click on the order whose shipment you want to cancel.
- In the order details page, click the three-dot button in the upper right of the Shipped section and click Cancel shipment.
- Read the remarks and confirm you understand the consequences.
Shipping Orders with Carrier Partners
You can select a carrier partner to ship customers' orders. SHOPLINE will synchronize the order information for the shipment with the carrier's logistics app, where you can proceed with the shipping process.
Once the shipment is complete, the carrier will synchronize the shipment information back to SHOPLINE.
Processing Orders with No Fulfillment Required
Some products that do not require shipping, such as digital goods and gift cards, are marked as No fulfillment required on the order details page. You still need to mark them as shipped, but the order details page will not display any logistics information.
