Offline Functionality and Hardware Usage
SHOPLINE POS relies on an internet connection for essential tasks such as syncing data with the admin panel, emailing receipts, and processing third-party payments.
If your network goes down during operating hours, SHOPLINE POS automatically switches to offline mode, enabling you to continue processing certain orders and transactions with limited functionality. This article explains what you can still do with SHOPLINE POS when the internet connection is lost.
Features Available in Offline Mode
Even when the internet cuts out, SHOPLINE POS keeps essential operations running with these features:
Feature | Description |
Stay Logged In | Once you are logged in, SHOPLINE POS remains usable even if the internet drops. |
Create Orders | During internet loss, you can still create orders using the cached product lists and original prices from your last online session. |

Using POS Hardware Offline
While certain hardware devices require the internet for payment processing, these essential SHOPLINE POS hardware tools continue to function when the internet drops, ensuring smooth operations at the checkout lines:
Hardware | Description |
Cash Drawer | Opens manually with the included key. For automatic opening, connect it to the receipt printer via cable, which then connects to the POS device via Bluetooth or LAN (depending on your printer model). |
Receipt Printer | Requires Bluetooth or LAN connection to the POS device, depending on the model. |
Barcode Scanner | Connects to SHOPLINE POS via Bluetooth. |
Note: Most card readers require an internet connection for processing payments. If you're using an external terminal, consult your terminal provider to determine if it requires a network connection. |
