Tips for Writing Good Meta Description Tags

  • Pay attention to character length: While meta descriptions don't have a strict length limit, Google typically displays up to 160 characters.
  • Create unique meta descriptions for each page: Ensure they accurately summarize the page's content. Also, use site-level content on the homepage and page-level descriptions on individual pages.
  • Include a Call to Action (CTA): CTAs can boost click-through rates in SERPs.
  • Include focus keywords: The meta description should feature key terms, synonyms, and long-tail keywords relevant to the URL.
  • For DTC websites: Use the meta description to promote your brand and build brand awareness.
