Transferring Store Ownership with SHOPLINE Payments
If you have applied for or are using SHOPLINE Payments and wish to transfer ownership of your SHOPLINE store, the process varies depending on whether the new owner belongs to the same business entity or a different one. This guide explains the procedures for both scenarios and provides important preparation steps to ensure a smooth transfer.
Note: If you have questions or need assistance submitting required documents, contact your SHOPLINE representative or reach out via the chat box in the lower-right corner of your SHOPLINE admin panel. |
Transferring Ownership Within the Same Entity
If you are transferring store ownership to another user within the same business entity, follow these steps:
- Prepare proof of relationship: You must provide documentation proving that both the current owner (transferor) and the new owner (recipient) belong to the same entity. This verification allows SHOPLINE to confirm that the ownership transfer does not involve asset transfer.
- Submit supporting documents: Contact SHOPLINE Support to obtain the required document templates and submit the completed materials.
Transferring ownership within the same entity will not affect your existing SHOPLINE Payments account.
Transferring Ownership to a Different Entity
When selling your SHOPLINE store to another business outside your entity, you should prepare and complete the following:
- Retain important records: Before the transfer, export all necessary business data, including historical transaction records and income statements. After the transfer, you will lose access to these records via the SHOPLINE admin panel.
- Deactivate your account: Use your administrator account to initiate the deactivation of your SHOPLINE store. Please refer to the Account Termination Agreement for the latest deactivation requirements.
- Notify your SHOPLINE representative: After starting the deactivation process, contact your SHOPLINE representative to explain your situation. Once ownership of rights and obligations has been verified and settled, SHOPLINE will disconnect your deactivated SHOPLINE Payments account from the store.
- New owner’s application: The new owner can then apply for their own SHOPLINE Payments service.
Following these steps will help ensure a smooth transfer or sale of your store while protecting your rights and interests.
