Sales Strategies for Out-of-Stock Products
Every POS store encounters situations where an item is temporarily out of stock. Hence, you'll need a strategy to manage out-of-stock sales. For example, with a product bundle in which one item is unavailable, do you pause sales of the entire bundle, or do you fulfill the order with a partial delivery?
This guide will explain how to set up sales strategies for your POS store when facing stock shortages, allowing you to effectively manage sales and meet your business needs.
Configuring Your Out-of-Stock Sales Strategy
To set the negative inventory sales strategy for products in your POS store, follow these steps:
- In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to POS > Settings > Product personalization settings.
- Go to the Store sales strategy tab and select the POS store for which you want to set an out-of-stock sales strategy.
- Under Whether negative inventory sales are allowed for store products, select your preferred strategy:
-
- Allow: All products with negative inventory in this store can be sold at checkout.
- Don't allow: All products with negative inventory in this store cannot be sold at checkout.
- Set by product:This option enables negative inventory sales for specific products. To allow negative inventory sales for selected products, enable Continue selling when out of stock on their respective product details pages. These products will remain available for sale even when out of stock. The negative inventory sales strategy will align with the product settings defined for online sales.
-
- If you select Allow or Set by product in the previous step, the system will display the option Whether products sold with negative inventory will be shipped directly during checkout, guiding you to determine the shipping status of these products at checkout.
-
- Yes, automatically set it to 'Shipped'
- No, manually confirm whether to ship immediately
-
Your settings will be automatically saved upon selecting an option.
Note: If allowing selling for out-of-stock products, you may need to process split delivery at checkouts. For more details, please refer to Split Deliveries for Backordered Products. |
