Split Deliveries for Backordered Products
In SHOPLEINE POS stores that allow selling out-of-stock products, orders with backordered products may take longer to fulfill due to transfers from other stores or new purchases.
This guide explains how to manage orders containing both in-stock and out-of-stock products. It focuses on processing split deliveries, allowing customers to receive in-stock products quickly while backordered products are fulfilled later.
Enabling Split Shipping Status
Before you can process split deliveries at checkout, you need to enable the split shipping status feature. Follow these steps:
- In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to POS > Settings > Location based pricing.
- Click on the Store sales strategy tab and select the POS store for which you want to enable the feature.
- Find the option to Confirm the shipping status for out of stock but sellable products at checkout? and select Yes.
Processing Split Deliveries
Here's how to process split deliveries for orders containing out-of-stock products:
Note: The split delivery functionality is not available in offline mode. |
Splitting an Order at Checkout
- When you add products to the cart, those with negative inventory will be marked as Can be sold when out of stock. Proceed to checkout by clicking Pay.
- A pop-up will display out-of-stock products with individual store inventory information. Click View inventory to see more details.
- Discuss backordered products with the customer. Upon agreement, click Continue selling to proceed.
Note: If the customer doesn’t accept the backorder, click Clear out-of-stock products from cart to remove them.
- The order will be divided into two statuses: Preparing to ship and Out of stock. You can adjust the status of each product based on inventory availability. Click Ship after products are added for products requiring replenishment or Ship now for readily available ones.
- Preparing to ship: These products are available for immediate delivery to the customer upon checkout. Once the order is completed, the status of these products will change to Shipped.
-
Out of Stock: These products are currently unavailable. Once the order is completed, the status of these products will change to Preparing to ship.
- For backordered products, you can create a separate fulfillment order to track their shipment once they become available. Choose Pickup or Delivery as the delivery type, enter required information, and click Collect Payment.
Notes: - Local delivery is not currently supported for backordered products when selecting Delivery as the delivery type.
- If all products are changed to the Preparing to ship status, you don't need to create a fulfillment order and can proceed directly to checkout.
- Edit the amount if partial payment is allowed and select the payment method.
- Click Complete to finalize the checkout.
Fulfilling Backordered Delivery
Once the backordered products are available and shipped, follow these steps to complete the split order:
- In the SHOPLINE app, click the menu icon in the upper left corner.
- Click Order.
- Locate the order with split deliveries and access its order details page.
- Click Mark as shipped.
- Confirm the quantity shipped for each backordered product and adjust if necessary. Then, click Confirm shipment.
- You can optionally enter a tracking number, select a logistics service provider, and choose whether to send a notification to the customer. Click Mark as shipped again to confirm.
The order details page will now show all products as Shipped, indicating the backordered delivery is complete.
