Verifying Your Store’s Domain on Microsoft Bing
Domain Verification is a mandatory step for merchants setting up an account on the Microsoft Merchant Center platform. It is used to verify the merchant's ownership of their store domain. Once domain verification is complete, merchants can start listing products on Microsoft Merchant Center.
This guide explains how to use SHOPLINE's quick domain verification feature to easily complete domain verification and ownership declaration on Microsoft Merchant Center.
Domain Verification Methods
There are four main methods for domain verification:
- Adding a Meta tag to the domain homepage
- Uploading an XML file to the website root directory
- Adding a CNAME record to DNS
- Using the Universal Event Tracking (UET) tag to verify your website URL
Currently, SHOPLINE uses the first method (adding a Meta tag to the domain homepage) to help you complete domain verification.
Domain Verification Steps
-
Go to the Microsoft Webmaster Tools page.
-
Enter your store's full main domain name in the URL input box (e.g., https://www.abc.com), and then click Add.
-
Select the HTML Meta tag option and copy the value following content= (the text between quotation marks).
-
In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Channels > Microsoft. Then, click Confirm now in the Domain verification section.
-
On the Domain verification page, click the Add Meta Tag button.
-
Paste the value you copied in step 3 into the input box and click Save.
Note: If you find that domain verification fails, you can first check if the Meta value is filled in correctly. If it is correct, just wait for Microsoft Webmaster Tools to automatically verify it. |
