Enabling Low Inventory Alerts
When running a livestream, you may want to learn the sale of the products in real time, especially when the inventory is running low. This information may help you in the following ways:
- You can create a sense of urgency among customers by announcing the available product quantities, which may drive sales and increase conversion rates.
- You can direct customers to purchase the other products, ensuring a smooth livestream without disappointing customers.
- You can forecast the demand and optimize your inventory control for popular products.
SHOPLINE launches the Low inventory alert feature, helping you quickly detect when the inventory of a product in your livestream is running low. When the available inventory of a product in the livestream sale reaches the threshold, the system will automatically send you an alert.
Configuring The Low Inventory Alert
After creating a livestream, you can enable this feature in the livestream studio. It is turned off by default. To turn it on, follow the steps below:
- In the livestream studio, switch to the Settings tab, and go to Basic settings > Low inventory alert.
- Turn on the Low inventory alert toggle to enable this feature.
- Specify a threshold (integers between 0 and 999) to trigger the alert. Even a threshold of 0 will trigger an alert when the stock reaches 0.
- Click Update to finish the configuration.
The low inventory alert can be configured only when the livestream is in the status of either Preparing or Live.
The products for the livestream sale need to have the inventory strategy of Track quantity with orders enabled, or the alert won’t be triggered. Also, only the products for the livestream sale are eligible for low inventory alerts
How Low Stock Alerts Work
The system monitors your products' real-time inventory levels during the livestream.
The alert is based on the product’s available inventory, which decreases by the purchased quantities when the customer completes the payment for the order. Merely leaving comments with keywords in your livestream won’t affect available inventory. For more information about inventory, refer to Managing Inventory.
When a product's available inventory reaches the threshold, you'll see a pop-up alert in the livestream studio. The product will also be highlighted in the product list.
Considerations
- Low inventory alerts are only sent during livestreams. Once the livestream ends, no further alerts will be sent.
- Each product can only trigger the low inventory alert once per livestream. If multiple variants (SKUs) of the same product (SPU) reach the threshold simultaneously, you'll receive separate alerts for each SKU.
- If you leave the livestream studio page with pending low inventory alerts, they won't be triggered when you return.
- The alert will also display the product’s inventory strategy, showing either Continue selling when out of stock or Stop selling when out of stock, based on your settings.
