Creating and Managing Navigation Menus

Setting up navigation menus allows you to organize how customers browse your store and access key pages, products, and collections. By structuring your menus effectively, you can guide customers to important content and improve their overall shopping experience.

This article will guide you through how to create, edit, and manage navigation menus in your SHOPLINE admin.

Creating a Navigation Menu

To create a navigation menu and configure its items:

1. From your SHOPLINE admin, go to Online Store > Navigation, then click Create navigation menu.

   

2. In the Navigation name field, enter a name for your menu.

   Note: The navigation name is automatically converted into a Handle, which is used as the menu’s unique identifier in the system and for theme/template references. It is recommended to keep the default value unless you have specific requirements.

3. In the Edit menu items section, click + Add menu item.

   

4. In the pop-up window:

   • Enter a name in Menu item title.
   • (Optional) Upload an image under Menu item image.
   • In Referral URL, select a destination or paste a link (e.g., page, product, or external URL).

   

5. Click Add to save the menu item.
6. Repeat the steps above to add more menu items as needed.
7. Click Add (top-right) to create and save the navigation menu.

Editing and Managing Menu Items

After adding menu items, you can update, remove, or rearrange them at any time.

Editing a Menu Item 

Click the pencil icon next to a menu item to update its title, image, or link, then save your changes.

Adding a Submenu

Click the + icon next to a menu item to add a submenu item. Submenu items will be nested under the selected parent item.

Deleting a Menu Item

Click the trash icon next to a menu item to remove it. A confirmation window will appear before deletion.

Rearranging Menu Items

Drag and drop menu items to adjust their display order.

Viewing and Deleting Navigation Menus

You can view all created navigation menus on the Navigation page and remove those that are no longer needed.

Viewing Navigation Menus

From your SHOPLINE admin, go to Online Store > Navigation.

On this page, you can view a list of all created navigation menus and the menu items associated with each menu. Click any menu to open and edit its details.

Deleting a Navigation Menu

To delete an existing navigation menu:

1. Click the navigation menu you want to delete.

   

2. On the navigation settings page, scroll to the bottom of the page, then click Delete Navigation.

   

3. In the confirmation window, click Delete to proceed.

Important Notes on Navigation Menu Display

• Navigation menus are typically displayed in your store’s header or footer, depending on your theme settings.

• Creating a menu does not automatically display it in your storefront. After creating the menu, you may need to assign it to the corresponding navigation section (such as the Header or Footer) in the Theme Editor.

  

• Menu items can link to internal pages (such as products or custom pages) or external URLs.
