Setting up and Managing Your Referral Program
The Member System app supports referral rewards. When an existing member invites another user to register, subscribe, or complete a purchase, both the referrer and the invitee can receive rewards. This feature encourages members to proactively share your brand via social media, email, and other channels, helping you grow your member base, improve retention, and build a stronger loyalty program.
This article explains how to use Referral management in Member System to configure invitation rewards and increase member retention.
Enabling/Disabling Referral Management
The Referral management feature lets you set rewards for both referrers and invitees to encourage new account registrations, brand subscriptions, and purchases. You can enable or disable this feature at any time.
| Note: After you configure referrer and invitee rewards, make sure Referral management is enabled; otherwise, the rules will not take effect. |
Turning on Referral Management
-
In the Member System app, go to Referrals > Status.
-
Toggle the switch on to enable the feature.
If the green indicator next to Referrals in the left menu is on, or the switch on the page is enabled, the feature is active. Once enabled, any designated activity completed through a referrer’s unique link or invite code will be recorded as a successful referral.
Turning off Referral Management
-
In the Member System app, go to Referral Management > Status.
-
Toggle the switch to Off to disable the feature.
After disabling, all configured referrer rewards, invitee rewards, invitation methods, and invitation links become inactive and will no longer be shown to customers. However, referral discounts that are already issued and still within validity can still be used at checkout.
Configuring Referrer Rewards
After you enable Referral management, you can set up Referrer rewards to reward members who successfully invite others to join activities such as registration, subscription, or placing an order.
To prevent misuse, you can use the Reward limit setting to define the maximum number of invitees per referrer who can successfully earn rewards.
Reward Settings
To set up referrer rewards:
-
Go to Referrals > Referrer rewards, then find the Reward settings card.
-
Click + Add referrer reward and choose a reward type. Options include:
- Earn points
- Percentage discount
- Fixed amount
- Free shipping
- Free product
- Store credits
-
Select the reward condition. There are three condition types (example below shows Earn points):
- Register an account
- Email subscription
-
Successful orders
Note: If you select Successful orders as the reward condition, you can set a minimum order amount (based on the actual payment of a single order). This helps prevent customers from creating new accounts and placing small orders just to abuse the reward program.
-
Configure the reward details and icon, then click Create to save. The referral reward takes effect automatically.
After you add any reward type, the Reward settings card will display configured rewards grouped by the three condition types (Account registration, Email subscription, Successful orders). You can set up to 3 rewards per condition, for a maximum of 9 rewards in total.
Reward Limits
Reward limit is used to set the maximum number of invitees per referrer who can successfully earn rewards. For example, if the limit is set to 5, the referrer will receive rewards for the first 5 invitees who complete the specified actions. Once this limit is reached, any additional invitees completing the actions will not generate further rewards for the referrer. Note that the referral relationship still applies, and the invitees can still receive rewards according to the New Customer Rewards rules.
To set up the Reward limit, follow these steps:
-
Go to Referrals > Referrer rewards, then find the Reward limits card and click Edit.
-
In the dialog box, select Set invite limit per referrer, enter the maximum number, and click Confirm.
Adding New Customer Rewards
To encourage new customers to complete the required action and enjoy an offer, set up an New customer rewards:
-
Go to Referrals > New customer rewards, then find the Reward settings card.
-
Click + Add new customer reward and select a reward type. Options include:
- Percentage discount

-
Configure the reward details on the settings page, then click Create (example below shows Fixed amount).
|
Note: Only one new customer reward can be active at a time. To change it, click Reselect new customer reward to remove the current setup and create a new one. Rewards already issued are not affected. |
Viewing and Using Rewards (Customer Experience)
After the referrer or invitee completes the required task, they can log in to the storefront and view/use their rewards on the Membership page:
-
In the storefront, the customer clicks the avatar in the top-right corner and opens the Member tab.
-
In Overview, the customer clicks the Rewards card to view and use all available rewards.
Conditions for Referrers to Receive RewardsTo ensure rewards are issued correctly, referrers will only receive rewards once the invitee has completed the required conditions. The two main conditions and related notes are as follows: Account Registration

After enabling the referral code feature, if your customers do not have a referral code, the member system will send them an email that includes a referral code.

Go to Referrals > Social media > click the Edit button on the upper right.

-
Email: You can customize the title, content and the icon of the email, which will be shown in the member panel.
