Creating and Managing Blog Posts
This article explains how to create new blog posts and edit existing ones in the Blog module. You’ll learn how to enter blog content, configure post settings, and manage publish status before making a post visible on your storefront.
Creating a New Blog Post
You can create a new blog post from the Blog list page in your SHOPLINE admin. Follow these steps:
- In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Online Store > Blog.
On the Blog list page, click Create a blog.
In the blog editor, fill in the following fields:
- Title: Enter the blog post title. The title is displayed on the storefront and used for SEO.
- Overview: Add a short summary of the blog post. This may appear as a preview on the blog listing to help customers quickly understand the article before clicking.
- Main body: Use the rich text editor to write the main content of your blog post. You can format text, insert images, add links, and embed media.
On the right-hand side of the editor, configure the post settings:
- Publish a blog:
- Publish: Make the post visible on the storefront.
- Hide: Keep the post hidden after saving.
- Schedule: Publish the post at a later time (if available).
- Author: Select the author displayed on the blog post.
- Blog category: Assign the post to a category for organization and navigation.
- Create redirection for category (optional, appears after assigning a category): Automatically creates a redirect when the post’s category changes to prevent broken links.
- Tag: Add tags to help organize and manage blog posts internally.
(Optional) Add a cover image, configure SEO settings, and choose a theme template to enhance your blog post’s appearance and search visibility:
- Cover image: Upload an image to be displayed at the top of the blog post.
- Search Engine Optimization: Edit the SEO title and description to improve search engine visibility.
- Theme template: Choose a theme template to control the layout and design of the blog post page. Different templates may display content, images, or sections differently depending on your theme settings.
- After completing the setup, click Save to create the blog post:
- Published posts appear on the storefront immediately (or based on schedule).
- Hidden posts are saved but not visible to customers.
Editing Existing Blog Posts
You can update blog content and settings at any time. To do so:
- In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Online Store > Blog.
On the Blog list page, use the search bar or filters (publish status, author, category) to find the blog post you want to edit.
Click the blog post to open the editor.
- Update the blog content or settings as needed, such as the title, main body, publish status, category, or cover image.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
Deleting a Blog Post
You can delete blog posts that are no longer needed from either the post editor page or the Blog list page.
Method 1: Delete from the Blog Post Editor
- In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Online Store > Blog.
- Click the blog post to open the editor.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete Blog.
In the pop-up window, click Complete to confirm the deletion.
Method 2: Delete from the Blog List Page
- In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Online Store > Blog.
- Locate the blog post in the list.
Click the trash icon in the Actions column.
In the pop-up window, click Delete to confirm the deletion.
Managing Blog Posts
The Blog list page provides additional tools to help you organize and manage blog posts more efficiently.
Sorting Blog Posts
You can sort blog posts based on your management needs. On the Blog list page, click Sort by, then select a sorting option to reorder the blog post list.
Previewing Blog Posts
You can preview how a published blog post appears on the storefront. On the Blog list page, click the eye icon in the Actions column next to the target blog post.
The blog post will open in a new browser tab.
Managing Blog Posts in Bulk
You can manage multiple blog posts simultaneously from the Blog list page. Select the checkboxes next to the blog posts you want to manage.
Choose one of the following bulk actions:
- Publish: Make selected blog posts visible on the storefront immediately after clicking the button.
- Cancel Publish: Hide selected blog posts from the storefront. A confirmation pop-up window will appear before the changes are applied.
- Delete: Permanently remove selected blog posts. A warning pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the deletion.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the selected action.
