Configuring Shipping Strategies for Subscription Orders
Managing how subscription orders are shipped is an important part of creating a smooth recurring purchase experience. If you’re using the Subscriptions app to run your recurring purchase business, you can define shipping strategies specifically for subscription orders, allowing you to decide how these orders are shipped and charged.
Once you’ve created a shipping strategy in the app, the system will direct you back to the Admin to configure shipping details. This guide walks you through the process of setting up and managing shipping strategies to align with your business needs.
Creating a Shipping Strategy in the Subscriptions App
The setup of a subscription shipping strategy begins in the Subscriptions app. From the app, you can create a dedicated strategy to define how subscription orders will be processed during checkout and fulfillment.
Once created, the system automatically generates a corresponding Subscription Shipping item in your Admin panel under Settings > Shipping and delivery.
For step-by-step instructions on creating the strategy within the app, refer to the "Configuring Subscription Shipping Strategy" section of the "Subscriptions: Setting Up Recurring Purchases" article.
Configuring Shipping Strategy Details in Admin
After you create a subscription shipping strategy in the Subscriptions app, you can configure its shipping details in the admin panel. To configure the strategy:
-
From the Subscriptions app, go to Settings > Shipping, then click Edit strategy.
Alternatively, in your Admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery. Scroll down to the Subscribe to shipping strategy section and click Subscription Shipping.
-
On the shipping strategy settings page, you can:
-
- Enable strategy: Toggle on to activate the strategy.
-
Edit basic settings:
- Shipping strategy name: Enter a name to display at checkout.
- Shipping strategy details: (Optional) Add a short description to show customers during checkout.
-
Please review your location inventory carefully. If it's not available, this strategy won't be used:
- When unchecked: If inventory is insufficient, the system will not continue matching other shipping strategies, and the order will be treated as having no available shipping option.
- When checked: If inventory is insufficient, the system will skip the current strategy and continue matching the next available shipping strategy.
- Set up products: All products in your subscription plans are automatically linked to the shipping strategy. Manual selection isn’t available.
- Configure shipping zones and rates: Add zones and set rates according to your strategy. You can also group locations as needed.
-
Once finished, click Update to save your changes.
Managing Products Linked to Subscription Shipping
Currently, you cannot manually select which products to include in the subscription shipping strategy. All products added to subscription plans in the Subscriptions app are automatically matched with the created shipping strategy.
