EasyRank SEO All-in-one: Setting Up FAQ Schema for AI Search (GEO)
EasyRank SEO All-in-One’s FAQ Schema feature allows you to display an elegant FAQ section on your online store while automatically embedding standard schema markup into the webpage’s backend. This helps generative AI search engines (e.g., ChatGPT and Google SGE) accurately crawl your store’s information, boosting your brand’s visibility in AI-driven search results.
This article guides you through configuring FAQ Schema using EasyRank SEO to optimize your store for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and enhance your click-through rate with Rich Results.
Understanding the Benefits of FAQ Schema
- Enhance AI Search Friendliness (GEO): Enables AI agents to accurately retrieve your return policies, shipping rules, or product FAQs and cite your store’s content in AI-generated answers.
- Synchronized Visual Components: Once configured in EasyRank SEO, the backend data and the storefront App block stay in sync. A single update refreshes both.
- Flexible Display: You can choose to provide data solely for AI crawling without displaying the visual component on your storefront.
Important Notes: Data Synchronization
- No Sync with Existing Theme Components: If you have previously created FAQs using the Section Gallery app or Advanced Components Library app in the Theme Editor, these are purely visual elements. Changes made to those components will not automatically sync with or update EasyRank SEO’s structured data.
- Manage via EasyRank SEO for Seamless Syncing: To ensure the data crawled by AI search engines matches what is displayed on your storefront, we recommend creating your FAQs schema directly in the EasyRank SEO app. The App block generated by EasyRank SEO shares the same data source as the backend schema, allowing for synchronized updates.
Setting Up FAQ Schema
Step 1: Access the Settings Page
To access the settings page:
- In your SHOPLINE admin, go to Apps > EasyRank SEO All-in-One, then click Structured data in the left navigation bar and select + Add now in the FAQ Schema section.
Step 2: Bind a Page and Edit Content
Follow the steps below to bind FAQs to a specific page, then configure the content:
- On the FAQ Schema list page, click + Add FAQ in the top-right corner to open the configuration window.
- In the pop-up window, configure the following options:
- Select Page Type: Choose to bind FAQs to Products, Collections, Blog, or Custom pages.
- Set FAQ Title: Enter a Title for the group (e.g., Shipping FAQ).
- Add FAQs: Add specific Questions and Answers. Click + Add FAQ to create additional FAQs.
- Click Save to apply the settings.
| Note: You can set up to 10 FAQs for each page resource. |
Step 3: Display on Storefront (Optional)
If you want customers to see these FAQs on your website, follow these steps:
- In the FAQ list, locate the FAQ schema you want to display. Click the More options (...) icon in the Operations column, then select Add to Theme.
- The Theme Editor will open in a new tab, automatically inserting the EasyRank SEO FAQ Schema App block.
-
You can drag and drop the block to your preferred position.
Tip: If you only want AI search engines to crawl the data and prefer not to show the FAQ block to customers, skip the Add to Theme step. As long as the settings are saved and enabled, the backend data remains active.
Configuring Multi-language Settings
EasyRank SEO FAQ Schema supports stores with multi-language display enabled. You can use the SHOPLINE UGC Multi-Language Visual Translator app:
- Open the UGC Multi-Language Visual Translator app.
- Go to the resource type that matches where your FAQ is bound (e.g., if the FAQ is on a product page, go to Products).
- Find the item you wish to translate and click the Translate button. Locate the translation key for FAQ Schema.
- Locate the translation key for FAQ Schema and translate the content as follows:Translate the content:
- Copy the entire JSON code from the original language field.
- Paste it into the target language field.
- Only translate the text within the "question" and "answer" tags. Do not modify the code structure (e.g., brackets or quotes).
- Click Save.
