Smart Search Recommendation: Configuring Personalized Filters
The Personalized filters feature in the Smart Search Recommendation app allows you to customize filter conditions for specific storefront pages. This helps you tailor the filtering experience based on different browsing contexts, improving product discovery and conversion.
Unlike Default filters, which apply globally, Personalized filters enable more flexible, page-specific configurations.
This article explains how to create and manage Personalized filters to customize filter display across different pages.
What Are Personalized Filters
Personalized filters allow you to define unique filter conditions for selected pages, such as:
- Search results page
- All product pages
- Product category pages
| Note: Once configured, Personalized filters take precedence over Default filters on the selected pages. |
Example use cases
- Show Price + Color filters on search results pages
- Display Category-specific filters on collection pages
- Customize filters for promotional or seasonal collections
Supported Filter Conditions
The available filter conditions in Personalized filters are based on the configurations set on the Default filters page. This means you can only select and apply filter conditions that have already been created in Default filters.
Similarly, if a filter condition is deleted from Default filters, it will also be removed from Personalized filters.
For a full list of supported filter types and setup instructions, refer to the "Supported Filter Conditions" section in the Default filters guide.
How to Create a Personalized Filter
Follow the steps below to create a personalized filter:
-
In your Smart Search Recommendation app, go to Filter > Personalized filter, then click Add filter in the upper-right corner.
-
In the Filter section, configure the following:
- Enter Filter Name: Enter a name to help you identify this filter configuration (for internal use only).
-
Select Apply Page: Choose where this filter will be applied. You can select one or multiple pages:
- Search results page
- All product pages
- Product category page: If selected, you can further choose to apply the filter to All product category pages or Designated product category pages.
Note: Personalized filters will only apply to the selected pages. -
In the Filter conditions section, click Add filter condition.
-
In the pop-up window, select one or more filter types (e.g., Price, Color), then click Add.
-
The selected filter conditions will appear in the list. You can click Add filter condition to add a new condition, or click the trash icon to delete one.
- After completing the settings, click Add to apply your changes.
Adding Filter Conditions
The filter conditions in Personalized filters can only be selected from those already configured in Default filters. In other words, only filter conditions set up in Default filters will appear in the selection list for Personalized filters. Examples include:
- Price
- Availability
- Product Type
- Tag
- Variant options (e.g., Color, Size)
- Metafields
