Migrating Discount Codes and Order Discount Information from Shopify to SHOPLINE
When migrating your store using the SHOPLINE Multi-platform Store Migration app, SHOPLINE supports migrating discount codes and discount information within orders from Shopify.
This article explains the feature overview, operation steps, and related rules for migrating discount codes and order discount information.
Feature Overview
Discount codes are an important marketing tool used to apply order incentives, including product discounts, order discounts, and shipping discounts.
With this feature, you can:
- Migrate Shopify discount codes to SHOPLINE
- View applied discount codes and discount amounts within orders
- View usage data for active discount code campaigns (requires whitelisting)
How to Migrate Discount Codes and Order Discount Information
Follow the steps below when performing data migration:
- Log in to your SHOPLINE Admin and open the Multi-platform Store Migration app.
- Under Please choose the platform to relocate to, select Shopify, then click Start to begin the migration process.
- Under Select modules, select Discount codes.
- Discount code migration depends on product and customer data. If product or customer data hasn’t been migrated, campaigns with a "specified range" set will fail to migrate.
- If the product and customer modules have completed a full migration within the past 90 days with a success rate above 95%, you can choose whether to migrate discount codes separately, as needed.
- If the product or customer module’s migration success rate doesn’t meet this threshold, discount code migration will not proceed.
- Review the default rules and confirm they meet your needs. Click Settings to modify the configuration.
- If this is a repeat migration, confirm whether to Overwrite and update.
- Click Next in the bottom-right corner, then click Relocate immediately to start the migration.
Discount Code Migration Rules
Please review the following rules before using this feature:
Supported Scope and Limitations
Expired or invalid discount codes are not supported for migration.
| Discount Type | Supported? |
| Order discount – order amount off | Yes |
| Product discount – product amount off | Yes |
| Product discount – Buy X Get Y | Yes |
| Shipping discount – Free shipping | Yes |
| Nth item discount | No |
| Bundle pricing (M items for N price) | No |
| Lowest price waiver | No |
Discount Code Status Settings
By default, a discount code’s status after migration matches its status on the original platform. If you select Disable, the discount code will be paused, and you can manually re-enable it later.
Campaign Rule Exception Settings
When the product or customer data specified in a discount rule fails to migrate or no longer exists, you can choose whether to block the migration. The default option would be to Block. If you select Don’t Block, the discount code can still migrate successfully, but the discount rule may be incomplete.
Customer Segmentation Handling
This setting can only be configured when Campaign Rule Exception is set to Don’t Block.
If customer segments cannot be migrated and you want to prioritize a successful discount code migration, set Migrate Without Segments to Yes.
The system will change the discount code’s applicable scope to all customers and continue the migration.
| Note: This will affect the original discount scope. Please proceed with caution. You can reconfigure the customer segmentation rules in the SHOPLINE Admin after the migration is complete. |
Order Discount Code Migration Rules
When migrating orders, you can choose whether to redeem discount codes during order creation. Your selection affects how discount code usage is recorded and whether orders containing expired, invalid, or missing discount codes can be migrated successfully.
Whether to Redeem Discount Codes (Whitelisting Required)
Select one of the following options to determine how discount codes are handled during order creation.
| Option | System Behavior |
| Select Yes |
|
| Select No |

Handling Order Migration Failures
When you select Apply discount codes when creating orders and a discount code in the order cannot be redeemed (e.g., expired, invalid, or campaign does not exist), the order migration will fail.
In this case, we recommend first checking whether the discount code used in the order is expired or invalid. If you would like to prioritize successful order migration:
- Restart the order migration task. Select No for Apply discount codes when creating orders and run the migration again.
- Orders will be migrated successfully, but the discount codes will not be redeemed and usage data will not be recorded.
| Note: If discount codes are not redeemed, order amounts will not be affected, but the usage data (e.g., usage count, number of orders) will not be recorded. |
