Troubleshooting Security Risk Warnings When Adding a Custom Domain
When adding a custom domain in SHOPLINE, the system checks your domain using a third-party security service, Spamhaus. If a potential risk is detected, you’ll see an error message and won’t be able to add the domain temporarily.
This article explains why this issue occurs, how to check your domain status, and what steps you can take to resolve it.
Understanding the Error Message
While adding your domain, you may see a message like: "This domain has security risks and cannot be added for now."
This means your domain has been flagged by the third-party security provider Spamhaus and placed on a blacklist. Until the issue is resolved and the domain is cleared, it cannot be used in your SHOPLINE store.
Common Reasons a Domain Is Blacklisted
A domain may be marked as risky for several reasons, including:
- Sending spam emails
- Involvement in phishing or fraudulent activities
- Distributing malware
- Being previously hacked or misused
- Associated with high-risk IPs or spam networks

Checking Domain Status and Requesting Removal
Follow these steps to check your domain and request removal from the blacklist:
- Go to the Spamhaus lookup page: https://check.spamhaus.org
- Enter your domain and click Lookup.
- If issues are found, details will be displayed.
- If issues are found, details will be displayed.
- Click More Info to see the specific reason and blacklist type.
- Fix the identified issues on your domain.
- Confirm that you understand the issue, then click Next steps.
- Fill in the required information and click Submit to request removal.

Re-Adding Your Domain in SHOPLINE
Once your domain is removed from the blacklist, you can add it again in your SHOPLINE admin:
- Go to Admin > Settings > Domain.
- Click + Add a domain.
- Enter your domain and complete the verification.

Handling Domains Not Listed on Spamhaus
If SHOPLINE still shows a security warning but your domain does not appear on Spamhaus, it may be flagged by other internal security checks.
In this case, you can:
