Smart Search Recommendation: Quick Start Guide
Smart Search Recommendation is an app that enhances your store’s search experience with intelligent product recommendations and keyword services. It helps deliver more accurate search results, improves product discoverability, and increases customer engagement and conversions.
This article provides an overview of the Smart Search Recommendation app and its key features, helping you understand how to manage and optimize your store’s search experience.
Installing the App
- Search for Smart Search Recommendation in the SHOPLINE App Store.

Click Install to authorize and complete the installation.
After installation, the app is automatically enabled and begins collecting search data to optimize recommendations over time. You can manage and customize features through the following tabs:
Overview: Analyzing Search Performance
From the moment you install the app, the system automatically collects data on customer search behavior. Use the Overview tab to gain insights and refine your strategy.
Search Performance Metrics
Monitor the Click-through rate and Purchase rate for Suggested keywords, Preset keywords, Suggested products, and Preset products.

Popular Intelligent Recommended Terms
View a list of terms frequently used by your customers, including their Search Frequency and Click Count, to help you optimize your keyword settings.

| Popularity | The overall ranking of the term based on frequency and engagement. Higher popularity indicates a term that is trending or highly relevant to your current traffic. |
| Popular Intelligent Recommended Terms | The specific AI-generated or system-suggested keywords that were displayed to and interacted with by customers during their search. |
| Search Frequency | The total number of times this specific term was searched for or triggered in the search bar, reflecting high customer intent. |
| Popular Default Recommended Terms | Among the "Preset keywords" you manually configured, these are the specific terms that received the most exposure or engagement. |
| Click Count | The total number of times customers clicked on the recommended term in the search dropdown menu. |
Search Configurations
The Search configurations tab is where you manage the "logic" and precision of your store’s search engine.

- Search settings: Configure how your store’s search works by defining what information can be searched, how results are matched, and how they are displayed
- Product promotion: Assign specific search terms to prioritize certain products at the top of results—ideal for boosting seasonal items or new arrivals.
- Synonyms: Create synonym groups to help customers find related products even if they use different terminology (e.g., "shoes" vs "footwear").
- Keyword redirection: Redirect customers directly to a specific URL or promotional landing page when they search for specific key phrases.
- Recommended products for ‘No Results Found’ page: When enabled, the AI automatically analyzes user profiles to recommend high-potential products when a search query yields no matches.
Display Settings
This section allows you to customize the visual experience across the customer’s search journey, from the initial click to the final results. Use the preview tool to toggle between mobile and desktop views and adjust the Layout style in real-time.

- Pre-search recommendations: Configure the placeholder Background terms, toggle Search history, and set up Hot search or Hot sales content that appears before a user starts typing.
- Search recommendations: Enable AI Smart Recommendations and select which Display content (Products, Collections, Pages, or Blog posts) appears while a user types.
- Results page: Define how products are presented on the final search results page, including layout options and the specific product information displayed.
Filters
Help customers narrow down their choices quickly using the Filters tab. This allows for selective searches based on product attributes through two primary filter types.

- Default filter: Used to enable and manage standard filter conditions, such as Price, Color, and Taxonomy (category tree). You can click Add filter condition to create filter rules.
- Personalized filter: Set up advanced filtering logic to customize filter conditions for specific pages, enabling more flexible page-level filter configurations.

Notes: To ensure optimal performance, filters are displayed only when the number of products is within the supported range:
If the number of products exceeds these limits, filters will be automatically hidden. If your store requires a higher limit, please contact SHOPLINE Support for assistance. |
Sort Options
The Sort options tab allows you to configure the sorting methods available to customers when browsing products in your store. These settings apply to both collection pages and search results pages, helping customers find relevant products more efficiently.

- Sort: Configure sorting items such as Default sort, Product name, Last updated, Sales volume, Conversion rate, Add-to-cart rate, and Views.
- Sorting method: Select the sorting method for each item (e.g., A–Z, Oldest to newest, Last 3 days, Last 7 days, Last 90 days).
- Custom sorting text: Set the display name shown on the storefront for each sorting option. You can also click Translate to configure multilingual labels.
- Status: Enable or disable each sorting option.
- Management: Drag to adjust the priority order, or click the trash icon to remove a sorting option.
