Setting Up Web → App Open Rules
Web → App open rules allow your store's existing website URLs (such as product page links shared in advertisements, emails, or social media) to open the corresponding pages directly in the Shopper App when customers have the app installed. This eliminates the need to create separate Smart Links.
You can configure this behavior for individual page types or customize the matching paths for Collections and Product pages.
This guide introduces the supported page types, explains how to configure Web → App open rules, and describes how to publish your changes.
Supported Page Types for Web → App Open Rules
Web → App open rules support the following six predefined page types. Each page type has a default path:
- Homepage: /
- Collections: /collections (supports custom paths)
- Search results: /search
- Product pages: /products (supports custom paths)
- Shopping bag: /cart
- Wishlist: /page/wishlist
| Note: If you want to configure rules for website pages other than the six predefined page types, click + Add custom path to create a custom page type and Path matching rule. You can add up to 10 custom paths. |
Configuring Web → App Open Rules
Follow these steps to configure Web → App open rules for your store:
- From the Shopper App app, go to App Release.
-
On the App version release management tab, locate Web → App open rules under App details, then click Edit.
-
On the Web → App open rules page, turn on the Enabled toggle in the upper-right corner.
-
Under Configuration scope, choose one of the following options:
- By page type (default): Configure the Page status for each page type individually.
- Site-wide: Enable the rules for all supported page types. When this option is selected, the Page status toggles for individual page types cannot be edited.
-
If you selected By page type, turn the Page status toggle on or off for each page type as needed.
Note: Only Collections and Product pages support custom Path rule settings. Click the Edit icon next to the path to modify it. The paths for all other page types are fixed and cannot be changed. -
To configure rules for additional website pages, click + Add custom path, then enter a Page type and Path matching rule. You can add up to 10 custom paths.
- Click Save.
Publishing Changes to Web → App Open Rules
Changes to Web → App open rules take effect only after they are published with a new app version.
- If you want your changes to take effect in the next app version, after saving your changes, the system prompts you to go to App version release management and submit a release request.
- Before you submit the release request, the rule status is displayed as Pending release. After submission, the status changes to Releasing. Once the release is complete, the status changes to Released.
| Note: Configuring Web → App open rules is optional. Even if you do not configure this feature, it will not affect your app's build or release process. |
Viewing the Web → App Open Rules Change Log
Click View change log to view the history of changes made to Web → App open rules, including the time of each change, the affected scope (feature status, configuration scope, or page rules), the specific changes made, and the administrator who made the changes. This helps you track the history of rule changes.
Important Notes for Web → App Open Rules

- While the app is in the Releasing or Under review status, all settings on the Web → App open rules page are read-only and cannot be edited.
