Customizing Your App Layout by Market
The Shopper App supports configuring layout settings separately for each market, allowing you to provide a differentiated shopping experience for customers in different countries or regions. You can first complete the basic layout in the App Default settings, then adjust colors, copy, or component content for individual markets as needed. Any market without its own settings automatically follows the App Default settings.
This article explains how to manage your market list, how to set up an independent layout for a specific market, and how to reset market settings back to App Default.
Understanding App Default and Market-Specific Layout Settings
Market-level configuration consists of App Default settings and market-specific settings.
- App Default settings: A fixed default configuration that always exists, regardless of whether multiple markets are enabled.
- Inheritance: If a market has not configured a given setting independently, it automatically inherits the App Default setting. When you later update the App Default setting, every market that has not configured that setting independently will automatically sync with the update.
- Independent settings: Once you edit a setting individually for a market, that setting is saved as an independent configuration for that market and no longer inherits from the App Default setting. Subsequent changes to the App Default setting will not affect that setting for that market.
Note: Markets do not inherit from one another, and there is no concept of a "default market" within the app. Each market either inherits the App Default setting or uses its own independent setting.
Managing the App Layout Editor Market List
To bring markets that have already been added in the SHOPLINE admin into App layout management, follow these steps:
-
Click App Default at the top of the editor, then select Manage markets.
-
In Editor market list, click + Add market.
-
Select the markets you want to add from the list of available markets, then click Confirm.
Note: The list of available markets only shows markets that have not yet been added to the Editor market list, and that are still active in the SHOPLINE admin.
After adding markets to the list, you can also:
- Drag a market to adjust its display order in the market selector.
- Click the corresponding trash icon to remove a market from the Editor market list.

Setting Up Market-Specific App Layouts
To adjust the layout for a specific market individually, follow these steps:
- Click the market selector at the top of the editor and switch to the market you want to configure.
-
Adjust the settings, component content, or component order for that market. The system automatically saves your changes as a draft.
Note: For detailed layout instructions for each page, see the relevant guides in the "App Design" section. -
After completing independent settings, the editor marks the setting status with the following icons:
- ◐ Partially independent: This node has some content set as an independent configuration, while the rest still inherits from the App Default settings.
- ⚫ Fully independent: This node contains content newly added for the current market that does not exist in the App Default settings.
In addition, in the Editor market list, any market with independent settings displays a Has independent settings label, making it easy to quickly identify markets that have been customized.
Resetting Market-Specific Layouts to App Default
If you want to undo a market's independent settings and have it follow the App Default settings again, you can reset either a single node or the entire page.
Resetting a Single Node
Find the node that displays an independent-setting icon, then click the Reset to App Default icon. That node will revert to following the App Default settings.
Resetting the Entire Page
In the sidebar at the top of the page, find Reset to App Default, then click Confirm in the confirmation dialog. The entire page's configuration will revert to following the App Default settings.
Note: Resetting the entire page clears all independent settings for the current market on that page (including setting values and component structure), and this action cannot be undone. It only affects the current market and the current page — it does not affect other markets or the App Default settings themselves.
Important Notes About Market-Specific App Layouts
- At this stage, only Brand kit and Fonts settings support market-level adjustment. Theme settings (such as global theme items like dark mode) do not yet support multi-market configuration — the market settings interface will consistently show a notice that theme settings can only be configured in App Default settings.
- The Collections page does not currently support independent layout settings by market — all markets render according to the App Default settings.
- If a market is deleted in the SHOPLINE admin, the editor will prompt you to remove it from the Editor market list before you can continue publishing. If a market is deactivated, you can still edit it normally, but customers will temporarily not see its independent settings; once the market is reactivated, the settings automatically take effect again.
FAQs About Market-Specific App Layouts
Q1: If I set independent content for a market, will it be overwritten when the App Default settings are updated?
No. Once a market has independent settings, it no longer follows the App Default settings. Subsequent changes to the App Default settings will not affect that market unless you manually reset it to follow the App Default settings again.
Q2: If I remove a market, can I recover its independent settings?
No. Removing a market deletes all of its independent settings, and this action cannot be undone. If you add the market back later, you will need to reconfigure it.
