Migrating Products from Shopify to SHOPLINE
SHOPLINE’s Multi-platform Store Migration app supports migrating your Shopify store's product information, variants, collections, and product status to SHOPLINE.
This article explains the field range supported for product migration, the mapping rules between Shopify product status and SHOPLINE product status status, product image format requirements, and migration support for product collection sorting and filtering rules.
How to Migrate Products from Shopify to SHOPLINE
Follow these steps to migrate products from your Shopify store to SHOPLINE:
- Log in to your SHOPLINE admin, then go to the Multi-platform Store Migration app.
- Select Shopify, click Migrate store, review the preparation reminder in the pop-up window, then click OK.
- Enter your Shopify store domain name, Client ID, and Secret to authorize your Shopify store.
- Select the Products module.
- After selecting it, the default migration range will be:
- Migrate all products, regardless of product status
- Product Cost Price will not be migrated
- To change the migration scope, click Settings under Product Information:
- Click Customize to migrate data by product status: Active, Draft, Archived, Unlisted
- Choose whether to migrate Product Cost Price
- Click Confirm, then Next to continue the migration process.
Product Image and Video Format Requirements
To ensure product images display properly on your storefront after migration, confirm that your image formats are supported by SHOPLINE.
- Supported formats include: .gif, .pjp, .jpg, .pjpeg, .jpeg, .jfif, .png, .bmp, .webp, .svg, .ico, and .avif (maximum file size: 10 MB).
- Animated GIFs are also supported, with a maximum file size of 8 MB.
- For square product images, a size of 800 × 800 pixels is recommended.
- Product video format: only .mp4 is supported, with a maximum file size of 20 MB.
- For more details, see "Adding Images, Videos, and Files to Products".
| Tip: Product videos depend on the Store Resources module. We recommend completing the migration of the Store Resources module before migrating products, to ensure product videos can be migrated successfully. |
Product Migration Considerations
During the migration period (from when migration begins until you officially switch your domain), do not perform the following actions, as doing so may cause product data errors or migration failure:
- Modifying the product Handle (the unique identifier in the product URL)
- Modifying product variant options in a way that changes the Variant ID, including:
- Deleting a variant option and re-adding it;
- Variant option values that do not match the original migration record during CSV import, etc.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why is my product collection data missing?
Product collection relationships may be missing after migration, usually because the collection uses a smart collection rule that SHOPLINE does not yet support for migration (for example, "Created Date," "Views," or "Add-to-Cart Count"). For the full list of supported collection rules, see "Product Collection Sorting and Filtering Rules for Migration" below.
Q2: Why is my product category (Category) data inconsistent?
Product category data may be missing or inconsistent with the original platform. This is usually because the original platform's Category taxonomy differs from SHOPLINE's, so some categories cannot be fully mapped. For details, see "Migrating Product Categories from Shopify to SHOPLINE".
Q3: Why are my product images or videos missing?
- The Store Resources module was not migrated before migrating products. Product videos depend on the Store Resources module. If this module has not been migrated yet when you migrate products, videos will fail to migrate. We recommend completing the Store Resources module migration before migrating products.
- Images or videos were migrated, but the file upload failed, or the file was frozen due to risk control rules:
- If the upload failed: click Retry on the migration results page, or migrate the product again through a secondary migration.
- If the file was frozen due to risk control rules: we recommend modifying the media content, then re-uploading it directly in the SHOPLINE admin.
Q4: What are other reasons that the migration might fail?
If a product fails to migrate for a reason other than those above, see "Troubleshooting Common Store Migration Errors" for common error causes and how to resolve them.
Product Status Migration Mapping
When migrating products from Shopify, the product's status is mapped to SHOPLINE's product status according to the rules in the table below. After migration, you can view each product's corresponding status on the product list page.
| Shopify Product Status | SHOPLINE Product Status | Description |
| Active | Activated | The product retains its original sales and display status. |
| Draft | Deactivated | Draft products are set to Deactivated after migration. |
| Archived | Archived | Archived products remain archived after migration. |
| Unlisted | Activated | The product is set to Active but not visible: customers cannot find the product through search or collection pages. |
