Setting Up Amazon Pay Checkout Buttons
The Amazon Pay checkout button lets customers complete purchases directly from the product detail page, shopping cart, or checkout page. They can pay using the address and payment details already saved in their Amazon account, without manually entering their details.
Because shoppers already trust Amazon, Amazon Pay makes it easier for new customers to give your store a try. It's especially helpful for newer brands and first-time shoppers.
This article covers the requirements, setup steps, troubleshooting, and limitations for the Amazon Pay checkout button.

Before setting up Amazon Pay checkout buttons, review the following requirements and compatibility restrictions.

Supported Markets
The Amazon Pay checkout button that customers see depends on their market. Make sure the country associated with your Amazon Pay gateway is included in your store's markets.
For example, if you enable Amazon Pay US, the United States must be included in your market configuration for customers in that market to see the Amazon Pay US button.
For more information, refer to "Creating and Configuring Markets" and "Setting Up Payment Currencies for Markets".
Supported Themes, Products, and Delivery Methods
- Themes: Amazon Pay checkout buttons are supported on OS 2.1 and OS 3.0 themes, as well as on the checkout page.
- Products: Amazon Pay checkout buttons support subscription products. B2B isn't supported.
- Delivery methods: Amazon Pay checkout buttons support shipping only. Local delivery and store pickup aren't supported, and orders that don't require shipping automatically switch to standard checkout.
Configuring Amazon Pay Payment and Checkout Button Settings
To set up the Amazon Pay checkout button on your storefront, complete the following two steps.
Step 1: Enable Amazon Pay as a Payment Method
- From your SHOPLINE admin, go to Settings > Payments > Other payment methods.
- Locate and enable the Amazon Pay gateway that corresponds to your target market: Amazon Pay UK, Amazon Pay EU, Amazon Pay US, or Amazon Pay JP.
For detailed steps, see "Setting Up Other Payment Methods".
Step 2: Add Amazon Pay Checkout Buttons to Your Store
After enabling Amazon Pay, configure where the checkout buttons appear.
- From your SHOPLINE admin, go to Settings > Checkout settings > Checkout button.
-
Locate the pages where you want to display the Amazon Pay checkout button: the Product detail page, Shopping cart, or Checkout page.
Note: If you're configuring checkout buttons on the product detail page, select Custom instead of Enable dynamic checkout button. Otherwise, the Amazon Pay button won't appear - Select Amazon Pay as a checkout button option.
For detailed instructions, see "Configuring Custom Checkout Buttons".
Troubleshooting the Amazon Pay Checkout Button
Amazon Pay Checkout Button Not Appearing
If the Amazon Pay checkout button doesn't appear on your storefront, check the following:
- Amazon Pay is enabled in Other payment methods, and Amazon Pay is selected in Checkout button.
- The enabled gateway is Amazon Pay UK, EU, US, or JP, and only one Amazon Pay gateway is enabled.
- The country for your Amazon Pay gateway has been added to your market.
- If the Enable dynamic checkout button is selected under the Product detail page, the Amazon Pay button won't appear. Select Custom instead, then select Amazon Pay.
Amazon Pay Checkout Button Behavior and Limitations
Changing the Shipping Address
Customers can't edit their address directly on the checkout page. To change it, they need to go back to Amazon Pay and select a different address.
Switching to Standard Checkout
Checkout automatically switches to standard checkout when:
- The customer clicks Exit or selects a different payment method
- The customer switches markets on the checkout page
- The shipping address is changed from another source, such as the API or a checkout extension
- The order doesn't require shipping
Once checkout switches, the page refreshes automatically and customers can choose from all the payment methods your store offers, including Amazon Pay.
Address Display
Country names are filled in based on the customer's browser language. If that language isn't supported, country names appear in English.
If a province name matches more than one region, the first match is selected automatically. We recommend reminding customers to double-check their shipping address before placing an order.
