Adding the ALT attribute (also called ALT tag) to images is to attach descriptive text to images. It makes your images easily crawled by search engines and helps SEO (search engine optimization). It also addresses the need for reading webpages out loud for visually impaired persons or busy customers.

Adding the ALT Attribute to Images in File Library

After uploading an image to your file library, you have the option to add the ALT attribute to it. Follow the steps below:

  1. From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Settings > File Library.

  2. Click on the image in the list of File Library.
  3. In the Edit image metadata pop-up window, add or edit the image’s Alt attribute and click Save to complete setting up the Alt attribute for this image.
