Guide to Connecting Your GoDaddy Domain
Your domain is the URL through which your customers find your online store. You can purchase a domain that aligns your brand from GoDaddy, and then resolve the domain and link it to the SHOPLINE admin panel, building customer trust in your store.
Resolving Your GoDaddy Domain
After purchasing a domain from GoDaddy, you need to perform the following steps to resolve the domain in the GoDaddy dashboard:
- On the GoDaddy homepage, click Sign In in the upper right corner and log in to your account.
- Go to My Account > Domains > DNS. Then in the Domain section, find your domain and click Manage DNS.
- Click Add New Record, add the following two records, and click Save to complete domain resolution:
Type Name Value TTL (recommended) Record 1 CNAME www vip.myshopline.shop 10 minutes Record 2 A @ 104.17.232.29 10 minutes
Notes: - If there is already a “CNAME” record type with a host value of “www”, click the pencil icon to update the value to "vip.myshopline.shop", and save it.
- The reason why you need to create two records is that we want to make sure customers can go to your store through both the URLs with and without the “www” prefix. For example, if you have the domain name of “greenlife,” then the CNAME record allows customers to access your store with ”www.greenlife.com,” while the A record allows them to access your store with “greenlife.com.”
Binding Your GoDaddy Domain
After resolving your domain, follow the steps below to bind it in the SHOPLINE admin panel:
- In your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Settings > Domains. In the Domain name section, click + Add a domain.
- Enter the resolved GoDaddy domain name, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the domain binding process.
- Once the domain is successfully bound, you will be redirected to the Domains page.
The first custom domain you link will automatically be set as your primary domain.
If you've added additional domains and want to change the primary one, click Switch next to the domain you want to use. In the pop-up window, select Set as primary domain, then click Switch.
