Cart Upsell - Progress Bar: Creating a Progress Bar Activity
Cart Upsell - Progress Bar allows you to easily configure promotional activities that are displayed directly on your store's cart page. By displaying the activity progress bar in the shopping cart, you can remind customers of the rewards they are close to achieving. As customers reach specific spending thresholds, the app automatically applies discounts to encourage them to add more items to their cart.

Setting Up a Progress Bar Activity
This section explains how to use Cart Upsell - Progress Bar to design and launch a progress bar promotion. From initial checkout optimization to customizing the visual appearance, follow these steps to ensure a seamless reward experience that matches your brand style:
-
On the Cart Upsell - Progress Bar homepage, click the Set up now button to begin creating your customized discount offers.
- To ensure the progress bar functions correctly, you must adjust the offer application rule.
-
Click Go to settings to open your SHOPLINE admin panel.
-
Under Offer codes at checkout, select Offer code can only be used on payment page.
-
-
Turn on the toggle for Display progress bar to display the progress bar on your store cart page.
Note: For each store, you can only establish one cart upsell rule at a time. The progress bar is displayed only on the shopping cart page and will not appear on the checkout page. -
In the Trigger product section, define the product scope for activating the upsell discount:
- All products: The progress bar will be active for all products in your store.
- Specific product category: The bar is triggered only when products from selected collections are added.
- Specific product: Choose individual products that trigger the progress bar.
Note: If Specific product category or Specific product is selected, the progress bar is triggered only after a qualifying item is added to the cart. Once triggered, all products in the cart—excluding free gifts and add-on items—count toward the consumption goal. -
In the Activity settings section, define the goals customers must meet to unlock their rewards:
-
Conditions for unlocking discount: Choose how to calculate the consumption goal:
- Product value in cart archives specific amount: Set the cart value required to unlock the reward.
- Product quantity in cart achieves specific amount: Set the quantity of products required to unlock the reward.
-
Reward Settings: Set the Goal, Discount type, and Discount applied when customers reach each goal. There’re four Discount types available:
- Percentage discount: Apply a percentage-based discount when customers reach the consumption goal.
- Fixed amount: Deduct a fixed monetary amount when customers reach the consumption goal.
- Free shipping: Offer free shipping once customers reach the consumption goal.
- Custom: Define a personalized reward for customers who reach the consumption goal. For this option, the app only displays the reward description and does not automatically apply the reward. You must ensure the reward is manually fulfilled or already available in your store, such as premium packaging, 12 interest-free installments, or 72-hour shipping.
- Enable animation: If enabled, an animation will be displayed as customers reach the consumption goal.
- Change the activity copy: Click the pencil icon in the Action section to edit the upsell copy, including the goal description, pre-goal text, and post-goal text.
- Add tiered goals: You can set up to four goals. The app applies only the reward for the highest goal achieved by the customer each time.
- Display notification copy when goal has been achieved: Enable this option to show a text notification when the customer reaches the discount goal.
- Stacked discount: Select Allow to stack with automatic discounts to enable multiple discounts to be applied automatically to the same order.
-
Conditions for unlocking discount: Choose how to calculate the consumption goal:
-
Available channels: Click Manage channels to select which sales channels the progress bar applies to (for example, Online Store or Shopper App).
-
Custom: Customize the design for your progress bar:
- Show target icon: Enable this option to display a target icon on the progress bar, helping customers understand their goals more clearly.
- Display target description: Enable this option to show the activity description on the progress bar.
- Milestones: Choose how stage goals are displayed on the progress bar, including Show all stage goals or Show current stage goals.
- Distribution settings: Select how progress stages are distributed across the progress bar, including Divide equally according to stage or Distribution according to stage threshold.
- The style follows the store theme: Enable this option to automatically match the progress bar’s colors, fonts, and corner radius to your store’s theme.
- Color settings: If Style follows the store theme is disabled, manually configure the colors for the progress bar background, goal progress bar, module background, and text.
-
As you adjust the settings, preview the changes in real time in the Cart Example module on the right.
- Click Create or Update to apply the settings.
Once a customer enters the cart page and meets the activity conditions, the app automatically generates a unique discount code based on your settings. Each code can be used only once to prevent misuse, and you can track the number of generated codes in the Discount Campaigns section of your SHOPLINE admin panel.
Important Notes on Campaign Logic and Management
Campaign Logic and Restrictions
- If a customer has manually applied a discount code before entering the cart page (e.g., by clicking Apply on a product detail page), the app will not automatically apply the progress bar discount to avoid conflicts.
- If a customer clicks the Buy now button to go directly to the checkout page, the app will not automatically apply any rewards.
- To ensure customers can enjoy the app’s discounts without issues, it is recommended to disable the discount code input box on the cart page. If enabled, customers may find it difficult to remove the progress bar discount from the cart, though it can still be removed on the checkout page.
Campaign Management and Updates
- To prevent the accumulation of excessive unused codes, the quantity of discount codes changes dynamically based on customer behavior. Any codes not used within 24 hours of generation will be automatically cleared.
- Campaigns created by this app can be found in the Discounts section of your admin panel. While the rules follow the app's settings, you can manually adjust them in the Discounts section to fit your specific business needs.
- Old campaigns created by the app are set to expire after seven days. During this period, codes already applied by customers remain valid. After seven days, old campaigns become ineffective, and customers will begin using coupon codes from the new campaigns.
