Setting Up Credit and Debit Card Payments
If you are not using SHOPLINE Payments and want to enable credit and debit card payments, you can choose from a variety of third-party payment service providers. Each store can only have one provider active at a time.
SHOPLINE supports two types of card payment service providers: direct providers and external providers. Direct providers can be activated instantly, while external providers require the installation of a credit card application. Regardless of which provider you choose, customers can complete purchases directly on your online store without being redirected to a third-party checkout page.
When customers use a third-party provider's payment method to purchase products from your store, trade fees may apply. The specific rates are determined by the third-party provider.
What is a Payment Service Provider?
A payment service provider (PSP) is a transaction support platform operated by an independent third-party organization that has established contracts with major domestic and international banks and card networks. Well-known PSPs include Adyen, Stripe, PayPal, and Airwallex. These providers offer the infrastructure and credibility required to process online payments securely—such as accepting common credit and debit card payments and handling payment authorization and settlement.
In transactions handled by a third-party payment provider, customers can select products and pay using a payment method supported by the provider (for example, a credit or debit card). Once the payment is received, the provider notifies you to proceed with shipping. After customers receive and inspect their items, the provider releases the payment to your account.
