Verifying Your Store Domain in Google Merchant Center
If you plan to list products or run ads through Google Merchant Center (GMC), you must first verify your store domain. This confirms that you own the website where your products are hosted and ensures Google recognizes it as your official store domain. SHOPLINE provides a built-in solution to help you complete domain verification quickly and easily.
This guide walks you through how to verify your store domain in Google Merchant Center using SHOPLINE.
About Domain Verification
To ensure your online store meets Google’s requirements, you need to verify your website in Google Merchant Center. Verification confirms that you own the website URL and have permission to use it for your Merchant Center account.
Verification Methods
Google provides several methods for domain verification, including:
-
Get a code sent to your business email: Google sends a verification code to a business email address associated with your website.
-
Use your ecommerce platform: Merchants using a supported ecommerce platform can use this method to complete verification.
-
Add an HTML tag or file: Add the HTML tag to your website, or upload the provided HTML file to your site’s root directory.
-
Use Google Tag Manager: Select this method if you already use Google Tag Manager on your store site.
- Use Google Analytics: Select this if your site is already connected to Google Analytics.
Currently, SHOPLINE supports the HTML tag method, which allows you to complete verification directly in your SHOPLINE admin panel without manually editing your store’s code.
