Selling Physical Gift Cards in Your POS Store
Selling physical gift cards not only enhances brand visibility but also attracts customers and boosts sales, especially during festive seasons. If you plan to sell self-printed physical gift cards in your POS store, this guide outlines the relevant checkout and management processes.
Guidelines for Physical Gift Card Codes
To minimize code duplication between physical and electronic gift cards, adhere to the following standards when printing physical gift cards:
- Characters: Use only lowercase English letters and numbers.
- Length: The system supports 8-20 characters, but we recommend using 20 characters to minimize duplicates.
Checkout Process for Physical Gift Cards
Follow these steps to check out a physical gift card product:
- From the POS app homepage, use one of the following methods to choose the physical gift card product:

- Switch from Product list to Workbench, then select Sell gift cards. If you don't see this option, tap Add an image block to add it to your workbench.
- Tap the . . . (More actions) icon in the shopping cart area and choose Sell gift cards.
- Switch from Product list to Workbench, then select Sell gift cards. If you don't see this option, tap Add an image block to add it to your workbench.
- Choose Physical gift card as the gift card type.
- If you have created gift card products in the admin panel, the system will display the available options for selection. Otherwise, it will proceed to the next step.
Notes: - For faster checkout, we recommend creating a gift card product for your physical gift cards in advance. Refer to the "Creating Gift Card Products" guide for detailed instructions.
- The inventory of physical gift cards is not linked to digital gift card products. This step primarily uses the digital gift card configuration to streamline the checkout process and doesn't affect digital gift card inventory.
- Add the card by scanning the card code with a camera or barcode scanner. Alternatively, manually enter the card code.
- Set the gift card value and tap COMPLETE to add the card to the temporary cart:

- If you selected an existing gift card product in step 3, the pre-set denomination options will be displayed.
- Otherwise, the system will suggest common denominations in your local currency.
- You can also manually enter the denomination.
- If needed, scan or manually input additional card codes in the temporary cart. Once finished, tap Add to cart.
- Review the shopping cart:

- If you added cards using an existing product, the cart will display the corresponding product name and image.
- For manually entered cards, the cart item will be named Physical gift card and will display a default image.
- Add any other items to the cart, then tap Pay and follow the standard checkout process to complete the transaction.
Viewing and Managing Sold Physical Gift Cards
Like digital gift cards, sold physical gift cards are recorded in the Gift cards section of your SHOPLINE admin panel. To view and manage them:
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Products > Gift cards.
- Use the search and filter functions to find the desired gift card. Then, click on it to view the details.
- On the details page, you can:

- Modify the denomination
- Adjust the expiration date
- Assign a customer
- Add notes
- Click Update to save your changes.
Using Physical Gift Cards for Payment
