This article provides a brief overview of the key features available in the SHOPLINE Meta channel to help you set up data tracking, product promotion, and customer engagement on Meta platforms.
Accessing the Facebook (Meta) Channel
To use the Meta channel features in SHOPLINE, you first need to access the Facebook (Meta) channel module in your admin panel:
From your SHOPLINE Admin, go to Channels and click Facebook.
You will be directed to the Meta channel dashboard, where you can configure domain verification, data tracking, product sync, and other Meta-related settings.
Once you enter the Meta channel, you can begin connecting your Meta business assets and configuring the features described in the following sections.
Overview of Meta Facebook (Meta) Features
You can access several Meta-related features through the SHOPLINE Facebook channel. These features help you manage advertising assets, track conversions, and connect with customers across Meta platforms.
Domain Verification
Domain verification allows you to confirm ownership of your store domain with Meta. This step helps improve account security and ensures that your business has control over how its domain is used in advertising and tracking.
After verifying your domain, you can use additional Meta features such as conversion tracking and event prioritization for advertising optimization.
| Recommendation: Domain verification is recommended before configuring data tracking or running Meta advertising campaigns. |
Data Tracking
The Data tracking feature allows you to send conversion data from your store to Meta. This data helps you understand customer behavior and measure the effectiveness of your advertising campaigns.
Data tracking includes the following capabilities:
- Website data reporting: You can connect your Meta Pixel and Conversions API (CAPI) to report website events such as page views, add-to-cart actions, and purchases. These events are sent back to Meta to help optimize advertising campaigns and improve audience targeting.
- Offline data reporting: Offline conversion reporting allows you to send offline order or conversion data to Meta. This helps improve ad performance measurement and enables more accurate audience targeting for future campaigns.
- Social e-commerce conversion event reporting: Conversion events generated through social commerce activities, such as live sales, post-sales interactions, and message center actions, can also be reported to Meta. These events provide additional insights into how customers interact with your brand across Meta platforms.
Shop
The Shop feature allows you to showcase your products on Facebook and Instagram. By syncing your store products with Meta’s commerce ecosystem, customers can browse your products directly on social platforms, helping increase product exposure and drive more traffic to your store.
This feature enables merchants to leverage social media channels as additional storefronts to reach potential customers and improve sales opportunities.
Advertising
The Advertising feature helps you expand your customer base through Meta advertising.
After connecting your Meta business account, you can configure advertising assets and manage campaign-related settings. Advertising campaigns themselves are managed through Meta Ads Manager, Meta’s professional advertising management platform.
By connecting your store with Meta, you can run different types of advertising campaigns, such as traffic campaigns, conversion campaigns, and product promotion campaigns to reach targeted audiences across Facebook and Instagram.
Community Marketing
The Community marketing feature enables you to connect your Facebook fan page and Instagram account to your store, allowing you to communicate with customers and manage interactions across Meta platforms.
Once connected, you can:
- Link your Facebook fan page to your store
- Connect your professional Instagram account
- Manage customer conversations through the Message Center
- Send notifications and respond to customer messages
These tools help you build stronger relationships with customers and create a more interactive social commerce experience.
Meta Shop Ads
The Meta Shop Ads feature allows you to synchronize your store products with Meta and promote them through shopping ads on Facebook and Instagram.
To use this feature, you will first need to connect a Meta channel in Smart Feed and generate a product feed. After syncing your products and authorizing your Meta business account, you can begin setting up Meta Shop Ads to promote your products.
By connecting product data and advertising campaigns, Meta Shop Ads help merchants create a seamless shopping experience that drives both product discovery and conversions.
Meta Advertising Best Practices
To successfully promote products through Meta advertising, it is important to follow Meta Advertising Policies. Understanding these policies can help you avoid violations that may lead to ad rejection, restricted features, or account suspension.
Prohibited Content
Certain products and content are not allowed to be promoted on Meta platforms. Merchants should review their ads carefully to avoid prohibited items such as:
- Counterfeit or infringing products
- Illegal goods or services
- Unsafe or harmful products (e.g., drugs or tobacco products)
- Weapons, explosives, or related accessories
- Adult content or sexually explicit material
- Content promoting violence, discrimination, or hate
Ensuring that your products and advertising materials comply with Meta policies helps maintain account stability and allows your campaigns to run smoothly.
Restricted Content
Some products and services may be promoted on Meta only under specific conditions. Examples of restricted content include:
- Alcohol-related products
- Healthcare or medical products
- Financial services
- Cryptocurrency-related services
- Political or social issue advertising
If your ads contain restricted content, you may need to meet additional requirements, such as age targeting, advertiser verification, or obtaining prior approval from Meta before running campaigns.
Ad Content Guidelines
Meta ads must not assert or imply that the advertiser knows personal information about the viewer. This includes sensitive attributes such as a person's health condition, financial status, religion, or ethnicity.
For example, ads should avoid statements that directly reference the viewer’s personal circumstances and instead use neutral messaging that applies to a broader audience.
Data Privacy Compliance
When using advertising and tracking tools, merchants should ensure that customer data is collected and handled responsibly. Always follow applicable privacy regulations and Meta’s data usage guidelines when using tools such as Meta Pixel and Conversions API.
Providing transparent data practices helps build customer trust and ensures compliance with Meta’s advertising requirements.
