Product Option Customizer & Product Bundler: Managing Templates for Customized Products
The Templates feature in the Product Option Customizer & Product Bundler app helps you streamline your product customization workflow. You can use preset templates provided by the app or create your own templates for future use. This article introduces the Templates feature, explaining how to use templates to create customized products, save your designs as templates, edit saved templates, and import or export templates across stores.
Introduction to the Template Section
The Templates section is where you manage all reusable customization templates for your products. Templates help you quickly apply consistent styling, layouts, and design configurations across multiple products without rebuilding everything from scratch.
The section is divided into two tabs:
My templates
This tab stores all self-created templates, including:
- Templates saved from the design editor
- Templates saved in bulk from the Products tab
You can open, edit, duplicate, rename, or delete templates from here.
| Note: For more details on how to create your own templates, refer to the "Creating Your Own Templates" section. |
Default templates
This tab includes all the preset templates provided by the app, which you can directly apply to your products. These templates are ready to use and cannot be edited, but they offer an easy starting point for common product types.
Creating Your Own Templates
You can create your own reusable templates to streamline your customization workflow. These custom templates are different from Default templates, as they are fully created and managed by you. You can build templates proactively from scratch or save your existing design files as templates for future use.
You can save any file created in either of the two editors:
There are two ways to create your own templates:
Method 1: Save from the Design Editor
After you finish creating a design file and want to save it as a template for future use, follow the steps below:
-
In the editor, click Save the configuration template in the upper-right corner.
-
Enter a template name in the pop-up window, then click Confirm to save the template.
Method 2: Bulk Save from the Products Tab
If you want to quickly create templates from multiple existing customization files:
- Go to Products, then select either the Product options tab or the Preview designs tab.
-
Bulk-select the files you want to save as templates, then click Save template settings.
-
Once saved, the templates will appear in the Templates tab. Templates saved in bulk are automatically named using the following rule: Product name_ Timestamp of creation.
| Note: You can save up to 20 files at a time, with a maximum of 1500 templates supported in total. |
Once created, all custom templates will be stored in the My templates tab under the Templates section, where you can edit, duplicate, rename, or delete them as needed.
Using Templates to Create Customized Products
You can use default templates or your own templates to quickly create customizable products. Templates can be applied in three ways.
Method 1: From the Products Tab — Using the Design Editor Picker
To create a customized product with a selected template directly from the Products tab:
-
Go to Products, click Add customize products, then select either Add product options or Add preview designs.
-
In the pop-up window, select the product you want to customize and click Add.
- Continue to the Choose a customization template popup:
-
If using a self-created template, choose whether to:
-
Keep connection with template: Once selected, you can choose whether future template changes should also be applied to the connected products.
Notes:
-
When a product is connected to a template, a label will appear at the top of the editor indicating the linked template. Editing the customization settings on this product’s editor page will not affect the template itself. Only the product’s own customization data will be updated and reflected on the storefront.
-
For products connected to a template, the template name will appear in the Connect to template column on the Products page. To disconnect a template, hover over the connected template and click the Cancel association icon.
-
- Only once: Apply the template one time without linking.
-
-
If using a default template, it can only be used once.
-
- Click Confirm to proceed to the editor and finalize your product customization.
Method 2: From the Products Tab – Customize Products in Bulk
If you want to apply a template to multiple products at once:
-
Go to Products and click Customize products in bulk.
-
In the pop-up window, select a preset template or a custom template, choose whether to Automatically enabled after customization, and then click Confirm.
Note: For more information on using custom templates and preset templates, please refer to Step 3 in Method 1. - The selected products will be added to the list. Click each product to enter the design editor and complete the customization settings.
Method 3: From the Templates Tab
To directly browse and apply templates:
-
Go to Templates > My templates or Default templates.
- Apply a template to a product:
-
For a self-created template under the My templates tab, click Use a template in the Options column, select a product from the pop-up window, choose whether to Keep connection with template or use Only once, then click Add.
-
For a default template under the Default templates tab, click the Use a template button, select a product from the pop-up window, and click Add.
-
- In the design editor, finalize your product customization.
Editing Saved Templates
To manage saved templates:
- Go to Templates > My templates.
- Locate the template you want to modify.
You can perform the following actions:
- Rename a Template: Hover over the template and click the pencil icon next to the template name to edit it.
-
Cancel Template Connection: In the Connected products column, click the number to open the list of connected products. Then click the Cancel connection icon to remove the link between the template and a specific product.

Choose Update template only if the changes should not affect existing products, or Update if the connected products should also be updated with the latest template settings.
- Duplicate a Template: Click the copy icon to create a duplicate of the template for further editing or variation design.
- Delete a Template: Click the trash bin icon to remove templates you no longer need.
Importing and Exporting Templates
To help merchants with multiple stores share customization settings more efficiently, you can export a template from one store and import it into another.
| Note: The template import and export feature is designed to help multi-store merchants quickly copy popular customization templates across stores. It is not intended for bulk updates and should not be used for large-scale content changes. |
Exporting Templates
- Go to Templates > My templates.
-
Select the templates you want to export, then click Export template.
-
In the pop-up window, select the file export range and click Export.
Importing Templates
- Go to Templates > My templates.
-
Click Import template.
-
Upload your template file to the upload area, then click Import to complete the process.
Template Field Descriptions
When you export a customization template, the system generates a file containing the following fields. The table below explains the purpose of each field to help you better understand the structure and usage of the template file during import and export.
| Important: Do not modify StoreId or TemplateId, as the system will be unable to recognize the template if these values are changed. |
| Field Name | Description |
| StoreId | The unique identifier of the store to which the template belongs. This value does not need to be changed when importing the template into another store. |
| TemplateId | The unique identifier of the template. This field ensures the system can correctly match the template—do not modify it. |
| TemplateName | The name of the template, used to help you identify its purpose (e.g., "Template for Coat"). After importing, you may edit the template name in the template list within the admin panel. |
| Custom Content | The data section containing the template’s customization configurations (such as option settings or style settings). Do not alter the structure of this field, as doing so may cause import failure. |
