Syncing Product Metafields Between SHOPLINE and Sales Channels

Metafields are fields used by SHOPLINE to capture additional product information, which can be displayed on product detail pages or used to satisfy channel category attribute requirements.

Through this feature, Multichannel Connect (MCC) now supports the following capabilities:

  1. SHOPLINE → Channel: When listing products, SHOPLINE product Metafields are automatically populated into channel category attributes.
  2. Channel → SHOPLINE: During product duplication, channel category attributes are saved as SHOPLINE product Metafields.

This feature enables you to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Reduce the need to create duplicate product templates for different product attributes.
  • Avoid repeatedly entering the same product attributes across multiple channels.
  • Retain critical category attribute information during product duplication.
  • Improve product data completeness and conversion performance.

This article outlines how Multichannel Connect (MCC) supports the bidirectional synchronization of product Metafields, helping merchants efficiently reuse product attributes across multiple sales channels and reduce repetitive operations.

 

 

How to Use SHOPLINE Metafields for Product Listing

If you have already maintained product attributes (such as material, size, specifications, etc.) as product Metafields within SHOPLINE, you can directly reuse this information when listing products to channels, eliminating the need to refill them in the channel template.

Applicable Channels: eBay, TikTok

  1. In the Multichannel Connect app, go to Templates.
  2. Select the applicable channel and click Create Template, or click the pencil icon to edit an existing template.

  3. When editing the category attribute template tab, locate the Category information > Category attributes section and enable the Product Attribute Mapping option.

  4. For each of the category attributes, select one of the following filling methods:
    1. Fixed Value
    2. Standard Attributes from SHOPLINE
    3. Product Metafields from SHOPLINE

  1. On the top-right corner, click Update. When creating or updating a channel product draft, the system will automatically read the corresponding SHOPLINE product fields and populate the attribute values.

 

 

How to Sync Category Attributes as Metafields During Product Duplication

When duplicating products from external sales channels to SHOPLINE, you can choose to simultaneously duplicate the product's category attribute information. This information is automatically saved as SHOPLINE product Metafields, preventing the need to manually supplement product attributes after duplication.

Applicable Scope: Channels that support product duplication (Excluding SHOPLINE 2.0, Mirakl, Zalora, and Faire).

 

Method 1: Manual Product Duplication

  1. In the Multichannel Connect app, go to Products.
  2. In the channel product list, select the products you wish to duplicate and click Duplicate to SHOPLINE.

  3. In the pop-up, enable the option to duplicate category attributes and select the SHOPLINE location to duplicate to, and click Confirm to begin the duplication.

  4. When you choose to sync category attributes as Metafields during product duplication, the system will automatically:
    • Read the category attributes of the product from the channel.
    • Create these category attributes as SHOPLINE product Metafields.
    • Allow you to view the corresponding Metafields in the SHOPLINE product backend once the duplication is complete.

 

Method 2: Automatic Product Duplication

  1. In the Multichannel Connect app, go to Settings > Product Settings.

  2. In the Product Settings page, locate the Product duplication section and enable the option Automatically duplicate channel products to SHOPLINE.

  3. Click Rule settings.
  4. In the Set product duplication rules page, locate the Category attributes section. Choose the option Duplicate selected stores and select the applicable stores.

  5. On the bottom right corner, click Save.
  6. When the system executes an automatic duplication task, if the product originates from a configured channel store, the system will automatically sync channel category attributes as SHOPLINE product Metafields.

 

 

Important Notes

  • Each channel category attribute will correspond to a single SHOPLINE product Metafield.
  • Metafields will be categorized under the marketplace namespace.
  • If an identical Metafield (Key+Value) already exists, the system will automatically skip it and will not create a duplicate.
  • The duplication process will not affect other basic information of the product.
  • Only category attribute information returned by the channel is duplicated; this does not include non-category attribute fields.
  • The failure of a single attribute to duplicate will not affect the overall product duplication task.
  • Metafields are primarily used for product information display or for reuse in subsequent listings.
