Managing Video Settings in the File Library
The File library allows you to manage uploaded videos centrally and configure how they appear across your store. After a video is uploaded, you can adjust certain display-related settings, such as the video cover, alternative text (Alt attribute), and caption description.
This article explains what video settings are available in the File library and how to edit them.
| Note: This guide focuses on managing and editing video settings in the File library. For instructions on how to upload videos or other materials to your store, please refer to the "Uploading Local Assets to the File Library" guide. |
What You Can Configure for Videos in the File Library
After uploading a video to the File Library, you can configure the following settings from the right-hand panel:
- Video cover: The cover image displayed before the video plays.
- Alternative text (Alt attribute): Descriptive text used to improve accessibility and SEO.
- Caption description: Text used to provide additional context or explanation for the video content.
| Tip: We recommend adding an appropriate video cover to all uploaded videos, as this helps ensure a better viewing experience for customers. |

Important Notes on Video Covers and Product Page Behavior
Please be aware of the following limitations when using videos from the File library on product pages:
-
Video cover replacement behavior
Replacing a video cover in the File library does not automatically update the cover for the same video that has already been added to individual product pages.
If you want the updated video cover to apply to a product page:
- Remove the original video from the product page.
- Re-upload the video from the File library after updating the cover.
-
Alternative text and caption limitations on product pages
Video configurations on individual product pages do not support Alternative text or Caption descriptions.
Even if Alt text or Caption description are configured for a video in the File library, these settings will not take effect when the video is added to a product page.
