Bulk Updating Products from the Product List

When you need to update multiple products at once, SHOPLINE provides bulk actions and a bulk editor on the Products page. Use bulk actions to apply the same change to multiple products, or use the bulk editor to review and edit multiple fields across products and their variants in a table.

This guide explains how to select products for bulk updates, choose the appropriate editing method, and update product and variant information efficiently.

Selecting Products to Update

Start by selecting the products you want to update:

1. From your SHOPLINE Admin, go to Products.
2. Select the products using one of the following methods:

   • Select individual products: Select the checkbox next to each product you want to update.

     

• Select all products on the current page: Select the checkbox at the top of the product list.

  

• Select all products in your store: After selecting one or all products on the current page, click Select all [number] products.

  

3. Once the products are selected, use Bulk actions or the Bulk editor to update them based on your needs.

Choosing a Bulk Editing Method

After selecting your products, choose the editing method based on the type of update you need to make:

Using Bulk Actions to Update Multiple Products

Use the actions above the product list when you want to apply the same change to multiple selected products.

Changing Product Status

After selecting products, use the corresponding action above the product list to change their status:

• Activate: Activate the selected products.
• Deactivate: Deactivate the selected products.
• Archive products: Archive selected products that you no longer actively manage or sell.

Using More Actions

Click More actions to access additional bulk operations. Depending on the selected products, available actions can include:

• Edit name: Add text to the beginning or end of product names, or replace specified text.
• Edit vendor: Replace the vendor for the selected products.
• Add tags: Add existing or new tags.
• Remove tag(s): Remove selected tags.
• Add sales channels: Make the selected products available on additional sales channels.
• Remove sales channels: Remove the selected products from selected sales channels.
• Edit price: Set a specified price or adjust existing prices.
• Edit the compare at price: Set or adjust compare-at prices.
• Edit product weight: Set a specified weight or adjust existing weights.
• Edit product type: Update the product type.
• Edit tax: Enable or disable tax for the selected products.
• Make visible: Change the selected products' visibility to Visible.
• Hide: Change the selected products' visibility to Hidden.
• Delete products: Permanently delete the selected products.

Additional actions provided by installed apps may also appear under the Apps section of the menu.

Editing Product and Variant Information in the Bulk Editor

For more detailed updates across multiple products and variants, use the Bulk editor. It provides a spreadsheet-like interface where you can review and edit multiple fields without opening each product individually.

Opening the Bulk Editor

1. From Products, select the products you want to edit.

2. Click Bulk editor.

   

3. The selected products and their variants are displayed as rows in the editor.

For products with variants, the product and its individual variants are displayed separately so you can update variant-level information as needed.

Choosing Fields to Edit

Click Edit columns to choose the information displayed in the bulk editor.

Available fields include:

• SKU code
• Price
• Compare at price
• Tax
• Requires Shipping
• Tag
• Product type
• Custom product type
• Vendor
• Collection
• Barcode
• Weight
• Product cost
• Status
• Visibility
• HS code
• Country/region of origin
• Package
• Supported product metafields

You can use the search field to quickly locate a field. Drag the six-dot icon next to a field to change its display order, then click Update.

Editing Values in the Table

Click an editable cell and enter or select the new value.

For faster editing, you can copy a value to consecutive cells below by selecting a cell and dragging the fill handle in its lower-right corner downward.

Applying Actions to Multiple Items in the Bulk Editor

To apply the same change to multiple products or variants:

1. Select the products or variants you want to update.

2. Click More actions.

   

3. Select the action you want to perform. Available actions can include:
   • Editing prices, compare-at prices, and shipping information
   • Updating product names, vendors, and product types
   • Adding or removing tags
   • Binding or unbinding collections
   • Updating tax settings
   • Setting or clearing supported product metafield values
   • Activating, deactivating, or archiving products
4. Configure the update as needed and confirm your changes.

This is particularly useful when the same change needs to be applied across many products or variants rather than entered cell by cell.
