Smart Feed: Migrating Shoplazza Google Multi-Country Feeds
Smart Feed can keep the country-specific product IDs that Shoplazza's official Google channel used in each Google Merchant Center (GMC) feed, such as shoplaza_FR_123 for France and shoplaza_DE_123 for Germany. Keeping these IDs lets GMC recognize your existing products after migration, so you keep the ad performance history built up on each product in every country. This guide explains how to select the right migration option, switch your Google reporting to product groups, and verify your product IDs after migration.
Prerequisites for Migrating Shoplazza Google Feeds to Smart Feed
Before you begin, make sure that:
- You have migrated your store from Shoplazza using the Multi-platform Store Migration App, with Shoplazza selected as the original platform.
- You used Shoplazza's official Google channel to sync products to GMC for one or more countries.
- Smart Feed is installed in your SHOPLINE store.
- You have access to the GMC account you used with Shoplazza.
How Product IDs Work for Shoplazza Google Multi-Country Feeds
Shoplazza's official Google channel gives the same product a different product ID in each country's feed. When you select Official Google Channel during migration, Smart Feed builds the IDs in each country feed the same way:
- Product ID: shoplaza_{country code}_{SKU ID}. The country code changes for each country feed, and the SKU ID is the variant's original Shoplazza ID.
- Item group ID: The product's original Shoplazza ID. This stays the same in every country feed.
For example, a variant with the Shoplazza SKU ID 1001, which belongs to a product with the Shoplazza ID 5001, appears in your feeds as follows:
| Country feed | Product ID | Item group ID |
| United States | shoplaza_US_1001 | 5001 |
| France | shoplaza_FR_1001 | 5001 |
| Germany | shoplaza_DE_1001 | 5001 |
| United Kingdom | shoplaza_GB_1001 | 5001 |
These are the same IDs your Shoplazza feeds used. If the IDs changed after migration, GMC would treat your products as new items, and the ad performance data built up on each product would no longer apply.
| Note: The United Kingdom uses the country code GB, not UK. |
Selecting Shoplazza's Official Google Channel in Smart Feed
You can select the official Google channel as your original tool in one of two places, depending on whether you set up Google during migration onboarding or later.
Selecting the Official Google Channel During Smart Feed Migration Onboarding
To select the official Google channel on the migration onboarding page:
- Install Smart Feed and open it. The migration onboarding page opens.
- Turn on the Google Migration toggle.
- Under Select the tool you used on Shoplazza, select Official Google Channel. The ID format shoplaza_{country code}_skuid appears below the option.
| Note: You only need to set this format once. Smart Feed automatically fills in the correct country code when it generates each country feed. Hover over the ? icon to see this explanation in the interface. |
- Click Preview to check sample products. The preview uses the country code of your main market.
- Click Start Migration.
- Continue with the rest of the Google channel setup: connect your GMC account, set your product sync scope and field rules, and confirm your GMC data source.
For details on the full migration process, see "Migrating Product Feeds from Shopify, WooCommerce, and Shoplazza".
Selecting the Official Google Channel When Adding the Google Channel Later
If you didn't turn on Google migration during onboarding, you can select the official Google channel when you add the Google channel:
- In Smart Feed, go to Channel Management > Channel Connection.
- Next to Google, click Add Channel.
- In the Account Binding step, connect your Google account and GMC account, then click Next.
- In the Product ID Settings step, select Use the original platform's product ID format.
- Under Select the tool you used on the original platform, select Official Google Channel. The preview below the option shows the ID format with your store's default country code, for example shoplaza_US_skuid.
| Note: The preview shows one country only. Smart Feed automatically uses the correct country code for each country feed you generate. |
- Click Next and complete the Product Filters and Field Settings steps.
- Confirm your GMC data source when prompted.
Switching Google Remarketing and Google Analytics Reporting to Product Group (SPU)
Shoplazza reports product views and other shopping events to Google using the product's ID (the product group). SHOPLINE reports each variant's ID by default. To match the item group IDs in your Smart Feed feeds, switch the Reporting Dimension for Google Remarketing and Google Analytics to Product Group. This helps Google match your store's events to your feed products and keeps your remarketing ads effective.
Switching Reporting from the Google Feed Management Pop-Up
To switch your reporting from Smart Feed:
- In Smart Feed, go to Channel Management > Feed Management, then open Google Feed Management.
- If Google Remarketing or Google Analytics doesn't report by product group, a pop-up appears. Choose one of the following:
- Switch Now: Changes the reporting dimension for both Google Remarketing and Google Analytics to Product Group.
- Not Now: Closes the pop-up without changing your settings. You can switch later from Data Tracking.
| Note: The pop-up appears each time you open Google Feed Management until both channels report by product group. |
Switching Reporting Later from Google Data Tracking
If you selected Not Now, follow these steps to switch your reporting:
- From your SHOPLINE Admin, go to Google > Data Tracking.
- In the Google Remarketing section, set Reporting Dimension to Product Group.
- In the Google Analytics section, set Reporting Dimension to Product Group.
Generating Country Feeds and Verifying Product IDs After Migrating from Shoplazza
After you finish the setup, generate your country feeds and check that the product IDs match the ones you used on Shoplazza:
- In Google Feed Management, turn on the feed for each country you want to sync to GMC.
- In GMC, open the data source for each country and check the product IDs:
- Each product ID follows the shoplaza_{country code}_{SKU ID} format, for example shoplaza_FR_1001 in the France data source.
- The product IDs are the same as the ones in that country's feed before migration.
- Check that your store reports product group IDs to Google. For example, open a product page with Google Tag Assistant and confirm that the item ID in the product view event matches the product's original Shoplazza ID.
- If you paused your Google ads during migration, resume them after confirming the IDs.

FAQ: Migrating Shoplazza Google Multi-Country Feeds
Q: Why does each country feed use a different product ID?
Google generally recommends using the same ID for a product across countries. However, Shoplazza's official Google channel used a different ID in each country. Keeping those IDs lets GMC recognize your products as the same items after migration, so your ad performance history isn't lost.
Q: What happens if I don't switch reporting to Product Group?
Your feeds still sync normally. However, the IDs your store reports to Google may not match the IDs in your feeds, which can make your remarketing ads less effective. You can switch at any time from Google > Data Tracking.
Q: Do I need to set the product ID format for each country?
No. You set the format once during migration onboarding or when adding the Google channel. Smart Feed fills in the correct country code for every country feed automatically.
Q: I used Shoplazza's XML feed instead of the official Google channel. Does this apply to me?
No. Country-specific product IDs apply only to the official Google channel. If you used Shoplazza's XML feed, select Official XML as the tool you used on the original platform.
