Understanding SHOPLINE Store Domains
Setting up a custom domain (e.g., www.yourstore.com) helps you build brand authority, enhance customer trust, and present a more professional store image.
In the Domains section of your SHOPLINE Admin, you can:
- Connect and manage custom domains
- Set and switch your primary domain
- Configure domain-level redirection
- Manage 301 URL redirects
- Control 404 page behavior
This guide provides an overview of the available domain-related features and directs you to the appropriate setup instructions.
Common Use Cases: When to Configure Domain Settings
Before diving into the configuration, identify your goal. You will likely need to visit the Domains section in your SHOPLINE Admin when:
- Launching Your Store: Replacing the default URL with a professional branded domain.
- Rebranding: Changing your primary domain to a new brand name.
- Expanding Globally: Adding regional domains or specific campaign URLs.
- Migrating Platforms: Moving from another provider and setting up redirects to keep your existing SEO ranking.
- Optimizing Traffic: Ensuring all visitors land on a single "Primary" version of your site.
Understanding Domain Types
SHOPLINE supports two types of domains. Understanding the difference is key to managing your brand's presence.
Default Domain
Every SHOPLINE store is assigned a default domain (e.g., storename.myshopline.com). This default domain can only be changed once and cannot be edited again after it has been modified.
| Note: You can use the default domain immediately after creating your store. However, to strengthen your brand image and credibility, we recommend connecting a custom domain. |
To change your default SHOPLINE domain, follow the steps below:
- Go to Settings > Domains.
-
Locate your current .myshopline.com domain and click Change to new myshopline.com domain.
-
Enter the new domain name and click Add to confirm.
Custom Domain
A custom domain is a domain name you purchase from a third-party provider (such as GoDaddy, NameSilo, or cloud providers). To connect a custom domain, refer to "Connecting a Custom Domain to SHOPLINE."
| Note: SHOPLINE allows each store to connect up to 20 custom domains. |
Once connected:
- Customers can access your store using your branded URL.
- You can set it as your primary domain.
- You can manage redirection behavior between multiple domains.
Managing Domains in SHOPLINE
The Domains section allows you to control how customers access your store and how traffic is routed between domains and pages.
