Choosing a Product Synchronization Method for Meta
Before you can sell products or run shopping campaigns on Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, you must first synchronize your product data from SHOPLINE to Meta. Product synchronization creates and maintains a Meta product catalog, allowing your products to be displayed and promoted across Meta services.
SHOPLINE supports multiple product synchronization solutions. This guide explains the available synchronization methods, their differences, and how to choose the one that best fits your business needs.
Understanding Product Synchronization
Product synchronization transfers product information from your SHOPLINE store to your Meta product catalog. After synchronization is enabled, product information is automatically kept up to date whenever supported changes are made in SHOPLINE.
Depending on the synchronization solution you use, the following product information may be synchronized:
- Product title
- Product description
- Product images
- Product price
- Inventory availability
- Product variants
- Product URL
A synchronized Meta product catalog is required before you can use features such as:
- Facebook Shop
- Instagram Shop
- Meta Shop Ads
- Advantage+ Catalog Ads (formerly Dynamic Product Ads)
Accessing the Product Synchronization Options
When setting up Facebook Shop or Meta Shop Ads in the Facebook channel, SHOPLINE prompts you to choose a product synchronization solution.
To open the Synchronization plan dialog:
- From your SHOPLINE Admin, go to Channels > Facebook.
- In the Shop section, click Setup.
-
In the Synchronization plan dialog, choose the product synchronization solution you want to use. See the next section for an overview of the available methods and their differences.
Available Product Synchronization Methods
When setting up Shop or Meta Shop Ads in the Facebook channel, SHOPLINE displays the Synchronization plan dialog, allowing you to choose a product synchronization solution.
Currently, SHOPLINE supports the following options.
Smart Feed (Recommended)
Smart Feed is SHOPLINE's native feed management solution for synchronizing products with marketing channels.
With Smart Feed, you can:
- Synchronize products with Meta using an automatically generated product feed.
- Keep product information synchronized automatically.
- Manage product feeds for multiple marketing channels from a single app.
- Configure feed settings and monitor synchronization status.
Smart Feed is recommended for most merchants because it is developed and maintained by SHOPLINE and provides the most seamless integration with Meta features.
| Note: For step-by-step instructions on creating a Meta product feed with Smart Feed, refer to "Smart Feed (New): Creating a Meta Product Feed (Limited Access)." |
Simprosys Google Shopping Feed
Simprosys Google Shopping Feed is a third-party application that also supports synchronizing products to Meta.
If you already use Simprosys to manage your product feeds, you can continue using it as your synchronization solution instead of Smart Feed.
| Note: Simprosys Google Shopping Feed is developed and supported by a third-party provider. For setup instructions and technical support, refer to the Simprosys Support Center. |
