Setting Up Product Tags
Product tags are a valuable tool for categorizing and organizing your products based on specific characteristics. For example, you can create tags based on brands, patterns or designs, materials, or even "Summer Sale".
Product tags help you quickly find and manage specific products in your SHOPLINE admin panel, especially when you have a large number of products. Additionally, when you enable tags as a filter on your storefront, customers can use them to filter products and easily find what they need.
This guide explains how to create, apply, remove, and manage product tags in SHOPLINE, and how to use them to filter products in the admin panel for more efficient management.

Adding a Tag
You can add tags to a product during creation or editing:
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Products.
- Click Create product or click on the product you want to edit.

On the product details page, find the Tag section under Product settings on the right, then enter the tag name in the search field:

If a matching tag already exists, select it to apply it to the product.

If the name you entered doesn’t match any existing tags, an + Add [your tag name] option will appear. Click it, and the system will automatically create a new tag and apply it to the product.

To check available tags and bulk apply them, click the pencil icon to open the View all tags pop-up. Here, you can:
- Browse tags in the All tags tab (sorted alphabetically or by latest update time) or search for a specific tag. The search is case-insensitive and ignores extra spaces.
- Use the Starred tags tab to quickly access frequently used tags and apply them to your product.
Note: You can click Manage product tags to access the corresponding page and manage all tags in one place, including viewing associated products, starring tags, and deleting tags. For more details, refer to the "Managing Store Tags" section. -
Select the tags you want to apply from the tag options. These tags will be moved to the Tags applied section. Click Update to apply them to the selected products.

Removing a Tag
You can remove a tag from a specific product or remove tags from multiple products at once.
Removing a Tag from a Single Product
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Products, then click on the product from which you want to remove its tag(s).

In the product’s details page, go to the Tag section on the right, and you will see all the tags applied to this product. Click the x on the tag that you want to remove.
- Click Update to save the settings.
Removing Tags for Multiple Products in Bulk
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Products.

Select multiple products, then click More actions > Remove tag(s).
- In the pop-up window, use the search box to instantly find specific tags that are already associated with the selected products.

From the Tags selected for the chosen product(s) section, select the tags you want to remove. These tags will be moved to the Remove tag(s) section. Click Remove to confirm.
Managing Store Tags
You can manage, star, and permanently delete tags across your entire store using the Manage store product tags page. To access the page:
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Products, then click on the product you want to edit to open the product details page.

In the Tag section on the right, click the pencil icon to open the View all tags pop-up.

Click Manage product tags at the bottom of the pop-up.
On the Manage store product tags page, you can:

View and search tags: Use the search bar to quickly find specific tags. You can also switch between the All and Star tabs to view all tags or only starred tags.

Star or unstar tags: Click the star icon next to a tag to mark it as starred. Starred tags will appear in the Starred tags tab in the tag selection pop-up for quick access. You can mark up to 50 tags as starred.

View associated products: Click the search icon in the Action column to view products associated with a specific tag.

Delete tags: Click the delete trash icon to remove a single tag, or select multiple tags (up to 100 at a time) and delete them in bulk.
Warning: Deleting a tag will remove it from all associated products and may affect the rules of related Smart Collections. This action cannot be undone.
Note: Bulk deletions are processed asynchronously in the background. You can check the execution status in Bulk processing progress and export the results as an Excel file to verify which tags were successfully deleted.
Filtering Products by Tag
You can use the tags to filter the list of products:
- From your SHOPLINE admin panel, go to Products.

Click the Product tag filter above the product list.

In the dropdown, select the filter condition (e.g., With any tag or With all tags).

Enter a tag name in the search field or select one or more tags from the list.
- Click Confirm. The system will automatically filter and display matching products.
