Connecting Your Meta Business Account to SHOPLINE (MBE)
Before you can run ads, synchronize products, or track conversion events on Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, you must connect your Meta business account to your SHOPLINE store.
SHOPLINE uses Meta Business Extension (MBE), a secure authorization flow provided by Meta, to connect your Meta business assets. During the setup process, you sign in to your Meta account, select the business assets you want to connect, and grant SHOPLINE permission to access them. Once the authorization is complete, you can enable Meta features such as product synchronization, conversion tracking, and advertising.
This guide explains how Meta Business Extension works, the assets required for authorization, and how to connect your Meta business account to SHOPLINE.
Before You Start
Before connecting your Meta business account, make sure you have a Meta Business Portfolio and access to the business assets required for the feature you want to set up. Depending on the feature, these assets may include:
- Meta Ad Account
- Facebook Page
- Instagram professional account
- Meta Dataset (Pixel), if required for the feature you are setting up
- Meta Catalog
If you have not yet created these assets, refer to "Preparing Your Meta Business Assets Before Connecting SHOPLINE."
| Note: The Facebook account used during authorization must have Full Control (Admin) permission for the Meta Business Portfolio and any business assets you want to connect. |
Understanding Meta Business Extension (MBE)
Meta Business Extension (MBE) is Meta's secure authorization service that allows third-party platforms such as SHOPLINE to access your Meta business assets without requiring you to manually configure asset IDs or permissions.
Depending on the Meta feature you are setting up, SHOPLINE may request access to one or more of the following assets:
- Meta Business Portfolio
- Meta Ad Account
- Facebook Page
- Instagram professional account
- Meta Dataset (Pixel)
- Meta Catalog
After authorization, SHOPLINE uses these assets to enable the corresponding Meta features, such as product synchronization, conversion tracking, and advertising.
Connecting Your Meta Business Account
Follow the steps below to connect your Meta business account through Meta Business Extension (MBE):
-
In your SHOPLINE Admin, go to Channels > Facebook. In the Data tracking section, click Setup.
-
On the Data tracking page, locate the data reporting feature you want to set up, then click Authorize.
-
A Meta login window will appear. Log in with your Facebook account, or click Continue as [your account name] if you are already signed in.
Note: If the login window doesn't appear, check whether your browser is blocking pop-ups and allow pop-ups for the SHOPLINE Admin. -
The Meta Business Extension (MBE) setup flow begins. Follow the on-screen instructions to select or create the business assets required for the feature you are configuring. Depending on your Meta account and the selected feature, these assets may include:
- Meta Business Portfolio
- Meta Ad Account
- Facebook Page
- Instagram professional account
- Meta Dataset (Pixel)
You can select existing assets or create new ones during this process.
Note: If the authorization flow displays an Instagram profile option, we recommend leaving it unselected, as selecting it may cause the authorization to fail. -
On the Confirm settings page, review the selected assets and any available configuration options, such as Automatic advanced matching, then click Continue.
Note: We recommend enabling Automatic advanced matching to help Meta match your website visitors with their Facebook accounts using information such as email addresses and phone numbers. -
Review the permissions that SHOPLINE is requesting to access your Meta business assets, then click Next to authorize the connection.
After the setup is completed, a confirmation page will appear indicating that your SHOPLINE account is connected. Click Return to SHOPLINE to continue configuring the selected Meta feature.
After the Connection
After successfully connecting your Meta business account, you can continue configuring Meta features in SHOPLINE, such as:
- Verifying your domain
- Setting up Meta Pixel and Conversions API
- Authorizing Offline Conversions API
- Enabling Social E-commerce Conversion Event Reporting
- Synchronizing products to Meta
